Hi! Im new to this site, but not to AS. I found this site a couple of months ago and found it very interesting reading how other people suffer from AS. Well I'm 26 and have had it since 11, it has come and gone, but when I was 17 it decided to stay. I have had it affect every part of my body, but mostly in the hips moving from left to right, somtimes both. I wont go into too much detail about my AS history, but it has been long and painful. I have to say I do admire the attitude of some of the people on the posts I have read.

Well onto the reason of my post. For the past 4-5 months my hips have gotten really painful to walk, move and sleep. I have been to see the docter, got X-rays, and seen a physio. Last week I saw the specialist and he told me I need hip replacment on both hips. I was really taken back coz in no way did I ever think I would need hip ops at my age. I didnt really ask him the questions I wanted to as I couldnt think straight at the time. I have to wait til next week to see my doctor, I was hoping I could get some info here.

Has anyone here had hip replacements? could u plz share your experience with me.
The specialist said I could be out of hospital the following day after surgery, but what are the recovery times like? he said 1 month, I have read elsewhere they are longer.
Would they double coz im having both hips done?
After recovery will I be able to run, or even play sports like tennis.

Thanks from your time
