Found this on a German website-research on Radon and it's effectiveness on patients suffering with AS have been sudied since the 1950's there:
After being inhaled through the lungs and absorbed by the skin, radon immediately begins to activate cell mechanisms right down to the messenger regeneration cells (cytoplasm). The improved circulation (as a result of the heat therapy) means that the radon is quickly distributed around the body via the bloodstream. It is particularly effective in well-circulated and fat-rich tissues, such as the hormone producing glands. The alpha-particles released by radon as it breaks down stimulate cellular metabolism and regeneration. In particular, cytokines, which inhibit inflammation and encourage healing, and the body's regenerative TGF-Beta cytokines, are activated.
