I very much prefer to 'know' *what they are up to - no lies !

Prep is hell. No probs taking, just does not work 'properly' on me ! First time was OK. Got a good prep, therafter *not. Last two times have been the worst, could not see what they were doing. Third time they gave me over double the 'usual' amount of prep - still did not work. Warned them this last time but the gastro did not listen - she 'knew'better...Ho-Hum.

Anyway, a right cock up of a shambles. Anaesthetist, terrific, one of the best ever. Nurses were terrific, couldn't fault. But...sigh. Will have to be redone as have a problem gut with a knot in the gut/adhesions/cannot get to the ascending colon, impossible impasse. Got to find out 'what' the problem is - told her there was a problem and probably a nice 'knot', she refused to listen. Blasted nuisance. No, cannot do a capsule virtual colonoscopy as capsule 'could' get caught in the knot, which would mean surgery. Not a happy bunny.

I prefer to be well awake.

PS We both had exactly the same sedation -

Demerol, pethidine (meperidine) dosing, indications, ...
reference.medscape.com/drug/demerol-meperidine-343315 - Similar to Demerol, pethidine (meperidine) dosing, indications, ...
Medscape - Indication-specific dosing for Demerol, pethidine (meperidine), frequency-based adverse effects, ... Class: Synthetic, Opioids;; Opioid Analgesics .

benzodiazepine(sedative/hypnotic)-Versed(midazolam)

Did nothing for me - nothing at all, neither sedated nor pilled the pain - as the gastro tried to get round the knot in the gut, which 'he' succeeded in doing, but not without causing me much distress, but at least I 'knew' what he was doing as opposed to theis last time when I heard through the grapevine that the gastro was afeared of puncturing my gut...but 'still' kept on trying, and of course, would not have known IF it might have been painful; pain has a role to play, it warns.

I prefer to be awake, fully awake.
