G'day lon,
I think that fishing trip was a big mistake. I have multiple issues apart from AS. One of the serious ones is nephrotic syndrome which is the loss of over 3 grams of protein thru my urine. In Jan I started losing 7 grams a day after a bout of parainfluenza. I was put on cyclosporine which is major league immuno suppressant. It brought my protein loss down to 2 grams. You are not supposed to lose any more than 150 mg a day. I take two blood pressure meds , midcardis 80mg and diltiazem 240 mg. They do several things . They maintain my blood pressure at around 135/80 and the diltiazem slows down my ventricular and atrial ectopic heart beats. It also allows me to take a much lower dose of cyclosporine to achieve the desired serum levels. I monitor my bp daily and when I see my nephrologist he checks my readings in memory. Since I went on my last fishing trip and got so ill , my blood pressure has been in the 170/110 range. Today it was 189/120. Kidney disease and high blood pressure go hand in hand. I fear I may have come out of partial remission that was keeping my loss at 2grams. Cyclosporine is just about my last hope . I am steroid resistant. I does not help at all. I will see my gp on wed abut I think I will be straight back to my nephrologist soon.
when you have so many issues you seem to live life on a tightrope. It is easy to get knocked off and very hard to get back on. All the best Lon, hope you are staying well.. Ron.
