If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Carmen, and welcome.
You've found the best place on the net to stick around at. Does your husband have any hobbies that he could possibly find a job doing or turn into his own business? Sorry I can't be more help but there is always someone here who has an answer, and if there is no answer, there will always be someone around to make you laugh.

Smed has it right there are programs out there for retraining your local state employment office can point you in the right direction. Whatever you do expect a wait everything AS seems to take time. You will have to check out the chat room thats a real good place to go :-) Cya around Frankie

Hi Carmen.... Your husband is a very lucky man.....I commend you for researched AS and educating yourself with this disease......and most importantly...I'm so glad that you found KickAS.....there are a few other women here who come on behalf of their mate and I think it is fabulous that you are doing this... I can't help in the employment area....but be sure to get your husband here and have him participate too....there is a great bunch of people here so feel free to ask any questions you may have.. Best wishes... Debbie MERRY CHRISTMAS

Well Carmen, I was a LetterCarrier for six years. I couldnt jump in and out of the postal truck, walk and carry the mail and parcel in my bag. Or twist left to right to deliver the mail to the house mailboxes. And the cold and raining days were killing me. My doctor said to get a stationary job within the PostOffice. Next thing I know I am forced to retire from the Post Office. But to answer your question. Have your husband check the local umemployment office. They retrain people to work on other jobs. Like computer or telephone operator. Good Luck.

Hi Carmen I would also like to WELCOME YOU to kickAS. I don't know much about the USA but here in Canada there are programs to help you get back in to a New Trade. My brother inlaw worked at a printing place and when he could not do the heavy work anymore voc rehab sent him to school and now he fixes computers for a living. He makes darn good money doing that kind of work. He had always done labor jobs. John

Dear Carmen,
Hi, welcome to the kickAS family.
I'm not sure about the job but I think the doctor has the points with the heavy labor jobs.
You can have lots of information about AS here and support too, if you have any question just bring it to the forum.
Again, welcome you to the family.
Hugs and Kisses, Sinta

Welcome! I was diagnosed around age 33-34, and am now 38, but had AS since my mid-twenties...believe me, it was a relief to be diagnosed, then I new what it was and it wasn't all in my head!!! As far as the heavy labor, you need to exercise, keep the joints loose, but heavy lifting ain't good, I did it and it was tolerable but when I was 'in flare' it was impossible....you have to restructure your thinking so you don't run to assist people in lifting heavy objects, and it's hard if it's your job or you like to help people....no moving pianos!!! Peace Linc
