I've been on it for several years! It was a God send as a replacement for Tegretol(had to have liver enz checked all the time). I too suffer the same as you, my nerve was nicked during my spinal fusion surgery(14 fused at one time) in 1995.Also they had to pull and straighten out my spinal cord, tha has caused many a weird nerve sensations from: no feeling in some areas, hyper sensitive,to phatom needle stabs and so on! Neur. really helps a lot. My dosage is 300mg 4x's day.
God bless!

P.S. It took me about 10 days to adjust to the drowsy and dopey feelings i felt, same with any new drug that has those side effects. It's new to the body and then, they body starts putting it to use, the side effects go away.

Hi
Neurontin caused me such severe depression and racing thoughts and suicidal thoughts. It can be a very dangerous drug, so be careful. It worked well for pain for me, but my thoughts begin to race at 300mg a day. I am also glad that I figured this out for myself, and yes now there have been many law suits filed because of suicicide. The suicide risk was ignored until a G>P took Neurontin for back pain and hung himself one month later. HIs wife said the drug worked great for his pain, and that was the strange thing about it. He had less pain but became very depressed .

I do know any drug which crosses the blood /brain barrier can have bizarre side effects and can act so differently for many. I don't think this drug should be removed off the market but I do now know it has been flagged for the potentional side efects.

Janet
