Well this will be a weekend not to be forgotten. on Friday night our baby Sable took aturn for the worst. She had 2 heart attacksand then we rushed her off to our Vet. He looked her over and ran some tests and told us to keep an eye on her. So we went home and everything was going fine until bed time. She was sleeping in the doorway to our bedroom so we told her very calmly that it was bed time and she new it was time to get up and make room for me to enter the bedroom. She went about 10 feet and then she dropped again and started tobounce around like before. Then a few minutes later she was calm again but looking very scared and confused so we stayed with her until she was more aware of things again and we went to bed. Sable went with us into the bedroom but didn't just up onto the bed like she always did to sleep with us. So I spent all night watching her making sure she was OK. Then come morning I called the vet and told him that we were on our way in to see him. In that time the tests came back and showed that our little Baby Sable's Heart was swollen and that half of it was blocked and the good half was not working very well either so. He told me that we can bring her home but she would be gone within a week or 2 at the most so I felt it would be better to just put her down and that way she wouldn't suffer any more. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Joanne is taking it very hard and I am trying to hold things back so that Joanne doesn't see it so that she doesn't make herself sick over this.
I never noticed just how quiet a house can be without our little baby being in it. I miss her little claws scratching on the carpet when she is stretching while she sleeps and the clicking of her claws on the floor when she walks.

John

Oh John I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Our pets definately become like family members don't they? It's so hard to take it when they pass away. I know that the day my little kitty Mookie goes will be one of the blackest days of my life - I love her so much. So I can understand the grief you and Joanne feel.

So sorry. As you say, the small consolation is that Sable is no longer suffering and you gave her a long and happy life.

Love Chelsea

Dear John and Joanne

I am so very very sorry. I know Sable truly was your baby.
You gave her an exceptionally good life and did the best for her in the end.
You should be so proud of yourselves that you allways did the best for her. She loved you for it.
I wish our pets could live as long as we do. It seems so unfair when their time comes.

Warm hugs for you both,
Maggie

John, I am so sorry for your loss. She was such a beautiful animal. They become so much a part of our family as we share our lives with them. Remember the great times that you had with her and let that be her legacy. I know what you are going through because I had to put my tomcat down a few years ago. Hopefully, time (or a new dog?) will heal these wounds. Patrick

John,
I'm so sorry. It is never easy to say good bye to ones best and dearest friend. We have had to put down 7 over the years and the 7th is just as hard as the first. My heart goes out to you both. There is a hole left in your heart that only time can heal.

Dear John,

I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I have 2 "babies" of my own and am not looking forward to "that day". They have helped me through many low moments and I love them dearly, as I can see you loved Sable. Try to remember how lucky she was to have a wonderful home and that you cared so greatly for her you were able to make a difficult decision at the end of her life.

My best to you and your wife.

Hey John and Joanne, so sorry to hear the news...I know how it is to lose a pet, and you don't want them to suffer....

It'll be hard in the quiet house for sure, sometimes I think I hear my pet....hang in there...

Peace

Oh John, how terrible for you both. It is so difficult making that decision - watching the four legged friend suffering and frightened, but knowing you'll miss him or her terribly. In the end, it's a no-brainer, but still not easy to do. Having done it three times myself, I know where you are right now.

Please know my thoughts and heart are with you both.

Many warm hugs,

Kat

I'm so sorry John. I"ve been in your shoes before and it is so painful. I lost my Gizzie(18 years old) and Silky (16 years) within 2 months of each other. I took comfort in the fact that they lived long comfortable lives and that they knew we loved them.

Sable was beautiful and I'm sure the most loyal of creatures. My thoughts are with you and your wife, Wanda
