My dear friend,
It is sad to hear that Sable is no longer with you but there is some comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain. And there is some comfort in bringing back and re-living all the wonderful memories of Sable.
She wasn't just a dog but rather, a special member of the family, a member who will never be forgotten.
Warm regards to you and Joanne,
George

Oh John, I am so so sorry you've lost little Sable. I know how much she means to you, how incredibly precious she was to you both.
It was the hardest thing I'd ever had to do in my life too. Making that decision tears you apart even when there is absolutely no way around it. It would've been too frightening for her to try and carry on another day... she is in peace now.
I know the awful stillness where paws should be tapping across the floor. Keep telling yourself that she knew how much she was loved, every single day of her life.
with love and my deepest sympathy for you both, mig

Bless your heart, John, and to post with a smiley face-I can tell how much she was loved... I too cannot hold back the tears. It calls to memory my 2 cats, who've been in kitty heaven for many years. You and Joanne are both in my thoughts...
Blessings, Sigrid

I'm a dog lover to John and I bet it is very hard to accept the death of a beloved pet. I'm sure Doggy Heaven will enjoy the company you have enjoyed her entire existance. Take care and give Joanne a big hug from all of us here at KA.

John,
I am so sorry to hear about your baby, I LOVE that name Sable.
I am really proud of you for putting her down, to put her out of her misery..it would have been so easy to want to let her go on her own because you wanted to be with her to the last minute.
I had my childhood dog for 15 years and actually got married and left home and when we came back for a weekend, I asked my Dad where Pooch was and he said when he got home from work he went out in the back yard to check on him and he looked like he was sleeping under the tree, but he had died. At least he died peacefully.
We get so attached to our pets and there is nothing wrong with that.
Tell Joanne How sorry I am,
Lisa
