She was your baby.... and she was lovely.

I'm so sorry to hear of your news John. My little dog Bella had four puppies two months ago, and we lost one. I didn't even have time to get to know his little personality, but I cried like a baby all the same.

Give my love to Joanne. Together you will get through this.

Maxine.

John,

I'm so sorry about Sable. I know that I would be very upset to lose my dogs. I know what you mean about the house being so quiet. One of my dogs got out and was missing for a day so I definately know what you mean.

It's nice of you to be strong for your wife but you also need to think of yourself. If you don't let it out, it may come out in a more negative way when you least expect it. I'm sure even though you are trying not to show it, your wife probably knows you well enough to know just how upset you are.

It takes a lot of love and courage to put a pet down so they will no longer suffer. You gave her a life that so many dogs never have the chance to live. She was lucky to have such wonderful owners.

Hi John

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful Sable. Losing a pet, especially having to make that dreadful decision to "let her go", must be one of the hardest things we ever have to do
They become part of our family - our best friends - and it breaks our heart when they go.

I have loved and lost so many pets over the years, and every time it happens I say, "never again", but the house always seems to empty without them I always end up getting another one.......

I wish I had something clever and comforting to say to you, but my heart and thoughts go out to you and Joanne.

Sending cyber
((((((HUGS))))))
to you both.

Sue

Thanks for all the replies about our little baby. She is missed everyday and evry night and will be for a very long time. We are thinking about going to the shelter and getting another little friend but so far thinking about it is all we can do.

Hi John and Joanne

If I may give advice based on my own experience. It's best to wait until you feel ready. We got our present doggy too soon after the last one and for a long time,I found it really hard to bond with her. I still missed Sally too much and almost had a resentment towards this doggy. Of course, we're fine now though.

You'll know when you both feal ready enough. I'm glad you're going to a shelter again.

HUGS
Maggie

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to ya'll. A pet in the right home is a member of the family, so mourning is both appropriate and necessary. I have had several dogs that I had to have put to sleep over the years and have unashamingly cried like a baby not only during the process, but for weeks afterwards with bouts of saddness and more crying for quite some period. Grieving is normal...let it out, cry with Joanne so she knows she is not alone in this grieving. Holding back may not be helping her and from my own experience it did not help me.

My prayers are with you.

Praise God <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> No matter what we are going through He has promised us we will not go through it alone! God IS still God & has a plan for us.
