HUMIRA Here I come

Great news today I begin the Humira countdown, I am now on the preliminaries of starting the drug had my chest xray, managed to fail the old flex and bend so I now fit the criteria for the drug, so I'm due back at hospital in 2 weeks to learn to jag myself (see I'm only qualified to jag other innocents)and go through all the paper work and hopefully then they will release the drug the first choice is Humira but they also have me down for Enbrel so I guess its just the luck of the draw.

So over the next few weeks there be all sorts of emotion nervoussness excitement (that something might actually have a chance to work) and well dred too, but I know I'm lucky to recieve these drugs, and further more to recieve them on the NHS.

I done some celabratory shopping too, which was fun, as i don't get far at all these days and very rarely near a city, so that was nice, but we've been gone all day from 8.30 this morning and back at 8 tonight from the hospital(we have a 3 hours drive each way) so really puffed out, but i wanted to come on and share.

unfortunatly the old husband has a dental abcess and is pacing like mad so i'm going to go nurse him(annoy him) for a while.

love to all, speak tomorrow

Laura

PS Possi sorry i've not called, I'm all in at the moment, glad you enjoyed the photos, will pop on tomorrow for more chatting, love you xx

Great news! Humira has helped many people with AS and here's hoping it works for you too!

Best to you!

Hi Laura,

I am one of the 'newbies' of KickAS, I was diagnosed just a month and a half ago. I am glad you will be on Humira, my Rheuma told me it is approved for AS too. So far I have 3 inj. , and even my condition is not so good at this time I could told you that I have been feeling some improvement. The first time I was so bad that I could no even sit. The last inj. (#3) even as bad as I have been feeling, I could told you at least a little improvement have been done; and that was very important for my Dr. Because he just asked: Please told me truth, I know you feel bad, but you feel less bad?

I hope you start feeling better faster than me, at least you have something that I don't have; some treatment before. In my case the difficult part is that I could not use NSAIDs because I am allergic to aspirin, so that make my improvement not that faster, but I will improve too, and I could told you it works.

Something not fun, In my case, since I am on the beginning and I have some issues with the disease (I don't accepted) and the injection (still have panic), I am very fortunate that my Dr. nurse, which is great, put me the Humira, and the truth you will feel a little bit more than Enbrel on the inj site, but this is to be better. At least it is every other week not each week which is like heaven.

Please keep in touch and let us know how everything goes. Zaida.

Laura, so glad to hear from you. I had to get the Botox injections for my eyes again the first of the week and was gone all day and then I have been at PT a lot so even if you called chances are that I wasn't here. When my eyes ae spasmed shut, you know I am not worth much to talk to or be around. Just drives me crazy with the pain and the not being able to see. It is much better now.

I decided I wanted one more thing in your package so it didn't get shipped off until Monday and they told me it would take 5 to 7 days so you should get it soon. I am anxious to know when you get it.

I loved the pictures. He is so darling.

I am going to be glad to hear how the Humira does for you. Since I stopped the Remicade, MTX and Prednisone I am wondering what he is going to suggest when I go back which is in a couple of weeks. The PT helps off and on. I really don't want any more of those potent meds but we'll see. I can't keep functioning (trying to) like this.

Hugs to you all.
Love you.
