Hi Fishtique,

That there is no longer mercury in vaccines since 2004 may be true in Canada, but it is not true for the US. It is true that in the US, since 2004 there is no longer mercury in infant/young children's vaccines (I'm glad I finally got that right). But there is still mercury in older children's/adults' vaccines such as tetanus and influenza vaccines.

See table two at this url:
http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm#t1

This is the FDA website, not some private citizen's with an ax to grind.

I do not believe that big pharma is out to poison us, I just believe that it is human nature to cheat when the opportunity presents itself in a way that we can get away with, especially when billions of dollars are at stake. I think that a good example of this is big pharma's push to market statin drugs to more and more people. They are even hoping to include children and pregnant women (even though statins are known to cause birth defects).

I am glad that mercury is now a non-issue in pediatric vaccines.

I am in the Air Force and was diagnosed this last summer with AS. After looking through this message board and then reviewing my vaccination record it looks like my last Anthrax shot was only about two to three weeks short of my first hip pain. Later this pain would be diagnosed as AS. Kind of iffy, but I am going to look into mercury detox just to see hat happens. I am interested what others have experience. Thanks for the post.

It seems that anthrax vaccine does not contain mercury. It does contain aluminum however, as do a number of other vaccines. You may have been exposed to mercury from other sources, primarily dental amalgam fillings. The mercury exposure is much worse if you clench or grind your teeth at night:

thanks for the info wasabi. of course my interest is concentrated in babies vaccinations beacuse I am a new mom. So that is where I have done all my research.

I like to say I toe the line between hardcore science gal, and granola gal - as in, I do like alternative medicines, and dont believe drugs are always the answer, but I dont always beleive that because eomething is natural, that is it better, and because something comes fome a drug company, it is evil.
This is the way I plan to embark on my AS journey - trusting my doctors are giving me the best advice they have... but not always believing the have the best advice, haahah

Because I have the unusual circumstance of nursing right now and being unable to take med besxides ibuprfin, it maekes me far more interested in finding alternative ways to alleviate the ache.

Hi fishtique,

Thanks for the latest info. I have no ax to grind as far as proving a connection between timerosol and autism. I am just trying to see if there is anything that can be done to help people with AS live with less pain and disability. Hence my interest in seeing if heavy metal poisoning is a disease factor for AS. Also whether or not something like astaxanthin can help reduce inflammation in AS. I have a friend with AS and she plans on trying astaxanthin. I am hoping she will have something positive to report over the next few weeks or so. Maybe it is just a foolish quest when doctors and researchers have not been able to come up with a safe, affordable, effective treatment for AS. But I want to help my friend. I do not have AS myself.

I'm afraid that I really don't understand the following article, but I found this statement in the article to be relevant to this thread:

"Dysregulation of CD95/Fas-mediated apoptosis has been implicated as a contributing factor in autoimmune disorders. Animal studies clearly have established a connection between mercury exposure and autoimmune disease in rodents, while case reports have suggested a link between accidental mercury contamination and autoimmune disease in humans."
