If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

i'm considering lasik surgery since my eyesight is very bad. i have had 3 bouts of uveitis but that was over 5 years ago.
my personal eye doctor kept me that it's good idea do it. i've asked several other eye doctors for their opinion and they feel it's okay.
anyone have lasik surgery without any problems?
thanks, leslie

I am curious about this as well! I would *love* to get it done. My eye doctor said I was not a good candidate because of the iritis and the lack of healing response that some people get after the surgery with all the immuno-suppressant drugs.
I wonder if maybe the drugs make the difference and not the condition?
hmm....

Unfortunately, lasik doesn't always work that well. The 'patient' has got to be the 'right' candidate. Ran it past my eye surgeon some while ago, he was dead agin lasik, as he'd had to 'try' to put right some of the bad outcomes...! Believe that drugs *and healing response can play a part.
For myself, I had cataracts removed, both eyes, (phacoemulsification) and the implants work a treat. Very recently, there are more refined implants available - like can correct astigmatism and, dada, the new implants give full correction, i.e. near and far and medium sight. I am left with having to wear specs for reading, but otherwise no specs for distance nor for medium distance sight.

I had LASIK done before I was diagnosed with AS but after I had my first uveitis troubles.
No problems whatsoever. I get yearly eye exams for work (commercial truck driver/hazardous materials industry).
I was legally blind before: 20/475 and 20/425 right and left. Now I have 20/10 20/15 vision - years later.

we have had several friends and things turned out wonderful for them BUT make sure you really check them out, make sure they know your complete history and weigh it carefully. My husband Bill needs it as well as our 2 children but they will not do it until they are 18. I have no doubt they will all have it done at some point.
Good luck!

Ansh, it would be great to hear what your sis has to say about it. What crazy timing to get a diagnosis with AS, right after lasik! That is spooky. I considered getting lasik done at one point, and then chickened out. Sticking with contacts and glasses for now.

I think (and I hope someone can better inform me here) you're given steroid drops after lasik surgery anyway, so that might help keep down any AS-related eye inflammation, if it happened to occur? If you go for it, let us know. Good luck!
