Hi all. I was wondering whether anyone has tried green lipped mussel extract. I just received a parcel from dear old mum - Musseltone Green Lipped Mussel Extract which states:
'may help to maintain joint mobility and suppleness of tendons, ligaments and connective tissue'

Has anyone tried or heard of this?

Oh, I'm AS since 11, flares since 16, diagnosed at 30 and really hampered by it since 35+ - now 45 and still kickin it as far as it will go

Jay

You might be onto something here - googled Green Lipped Mussel Extract and came up with this:

Perna canaliculus, Green-lipped mussel is a New Zealand shellfish, the extract of which has been shown to be useful in the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid Arthritis, bursitis, ankylosing spondylitis, lyme disease, skin inflammation, Connective Tissue Repair and sports related injuries.

I cut and paste path for the website but I don't know how to make it a direct link thingy. Make sure you report on any findings won't you? Well done Mum!

Hi Tink, finally a reply on the mussels! I was kind of hoping that someone had tried them and had some kind of feedback. Looks like I'll have to file the first report on them. I haven't started them as yet but will as soon as everything completely stabilises. Feeling a whole lot better and gingerly walking away from the pain. At work at the moment but about to drive home grin in a bit
