Seb,

Yes, there is the possibily that you flare from those foods. I too have some suspicions for pineapple and some berries.

But, on the other hands, do not be in such hurry to make medical affirmations on your condition.

In your first post you said you have IBS.

Take a look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irritable_bowel_syndrome

and see what IBS means, and MORE how it's diagnosed - colonoscopy, lactose intolerance tests, exclusion of any inflamatory bowel disease like Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, Coeliac and more.

So there's a lot of work before a doctor will say that you have IBS.

Regargind candida.
There's a possibility that you gut suffers togheter with your joints. For some of us, me included this is the case.

But in you bowels live many more potential harmful bacteria, it doesn't have to be candida that makes you sick.

Maybe, being the fact that you gave up other foods, you overexageratted with some fruits. And for most of the people, even healthy ones, eating fruits without some limit finish in gut reaction like bloating or gas, or pain. And by the way, supermarket fruits are crap, most of it it's picked up green and it ripens in an unnatural way... eating them without reastraint will make anyone sick.
Pick up only the real ripened ones !

So - anything you do or anything you eat - do it with caution, keep a food journal in wich to write anything you eat, if possible write down when you cross the line and eat more than you need just because you like it... and also write there your body reactions - from every time of the day.

Then it will be easier to decide what aliment you tolerate or not at some point of time.

IF any food makes you sick, avoid it, even if you read in this forum or elswhere about it's qualities. Maybe it has them, but on the other hand if you react from it (like garlic) probably it's not for you. Yet.

Thanks Alinus,

Pretty sure I do have a bout of Candidas though. Did the spit test and saw the 'streaks' come down from the saliva so this kind of confirms it i guess. Been taking garlic which although has put my AS in alot of pain (i dont think i can tolerate it, small traces of starch) its done absolute wonders for my gut and getting rid of those nasty bacteria. My stomach is really calm at the moment. I can tell I have Candida or some other bad bacterial infection because of the bad fatigue I've been getting. Ive done my research and this means fatigue is a result of the bacteria 'die off'. My liver is trying to flush out the dead bacteria.

Will come off the garlic as its causing my AS bad problems. Had benefits and negatives on garlic. Oregeno oil seems the nest obvious step to kill the bacteria.

Note: I'm not an expert or anything and im not 100% sure i have Candida but the evidence ive seen and my gut feeling tells me i have it or some other bacterial infection.

Seb

Actualy you can make the spit test at home. Just search the web and you will find how. It's just not 100% reliable.

hey seb

sounds like you've got a good plan. whether you have any candida overgrowth or just a bit of bacterial dysbiosis doesn't make too much difference from an alternative treatment point of view. eating less of the sugary foods that were causing problems and trying natural antifungals like garlic and oregano oil sounds like a good option. other ones to research are olive leaf and grapefruit seed extract. i took a combination of a few of those things a year ago had a big die off followed by a big improvement in AS symptoms. most natural antifungals also have antibiotic properties as well so you are covering your bets, however prescription antibiotics are the last thing you want to take if you actually have candida.

Thanks Jroc.

The garlic put me in alot of AS pain but i think its the die off symptoms. My AS and symptoms are better today aswell. My symptoms which after the research i've done, are almost certainly die off symptoms.

I've had dizziness, increased joint and muscle pain, bad nervousness and anxiety (I was very anxious for no reason) and pretty extreme fatigue. All symptoms of 'die off' bacteria.

I think this bacterial infection wheather it was Candida or not, has been causing me alot of trouble with certain foods so I'm quietly confident I'm finally on the right track.

Jroc,

Probably a stupid question but do you know if olive leaf extract is starch free?

Thanks,
Seb

Just to clear up any confusion - candida is a yeast/fungus and not a bacteria.

The olive leaf extract that I used is starch free according the bottle. "NFS Olive Leaf 5500mg" contains no: yeast, corn, wheat, soy, gluten, milk, salt, sugar, starch, artificial flavours or preservatives.

Olive leaf may also have an effect on H Pylori - http://www.ijaaonline.com/article/S0924-8579(08)00554-2

i need to keep my weight up too. umm check out my recent post 'what food/brands do you use' some replies may be helpful w/ your question.

funny your asking as ive been wanting chocolate all day but dont wanna ruin the small successes ive had so far so i decided it was best not to have any.
weight maintaining is more important right now but it sure would be nice to eat something naughty...only prob is, your brain feels good as a result but your body may disagree. blah it sucks. but we gotta keep going :]
