I really admire the swimmers. I like to swim, but my neck has a hard time turning around to breath anymore. I do scuba dive, and once I took a snorkel so I didn't have to turn my neck. I guess running is better for me.

Yes, my husband has to turn from the waist to breathe. A chiropractor broke his neck in the 90's, and he had to have C3 surgically fused. I can't imagine how difficult it is for the AS'ers who have lots of fusing. eek2

This is definitely a mutual admiration society, because I really admire runners! But my feet & knees won't let me run on them anymore. no

Bah, I completely skipped exercising yesterday. I had a little "mini-flare up" brought on by allergies I suspect, and it was 3 pm before I remembered to take a dose of my steroid nose spray ~ and voila! I feel mo'betta t'day.

This morning I got up bright and early to swim, and it turns out that the pool is not near so busy at 8 am as it is at noon!

swimming - 1,000 yds / 40 minutes
tai chi - 55 minutes

Made it for 55 minutes of a 1 hour class.

Tuesday: 5 miles (80 minutes)

I felt awesome today! We went on a 3 mile morning walk at a really fast pace. 3 miles in 40 minutes! Then 2 miles in the afternoon at the regular 40 minutes pace. But, I did notice a little tenderness in my right knee...got ice on it now.

EricaK wanted some pictures...here they are!

The cherries were yummy this year

Trench work before laying about 1000 feet of irrigation pipe:

More trench work...50 Italian Cypress went in here.

Part of the yard...the 4x4 is my portal shop with tools and materials. Around the corner behind the 4x4 is my new vegetable garden...I don't have pictures of that yet:

Looking the other direction:

so glad you have this opportunity to walk. smile

just watch the knees smile

always a balance between doing enough but not too much, cause once the tendonitis develops, then that keeps us from using that joint, but you know this.

i used to just ice all the time. but found my home ultrasound machine gets rid of the tendonitis faster. that and my LDN make the healing process a lot better than it used to be.

i paced the halls of my building in between making up an exam today, not sure how much distance, need to pull out my pedometer on days like today.......at least i don't have to take the exam! but i will have to grade it, and another one this weekend.......way too much sitting coming up as well as too much hand use! but will try to get out and walk in between as much as possible. i miss being able to go for long walks every day. but at least i'm going every few days! always a challenge to balance work and life.
