i need to catch up here, but quickly, maybe try zanaflex, only stays in the blood stream 6 hours total. about an hour after taking it, it kicks in including the drowsiness. the drowsiness only lasts about an hour, hour and a half, but the muscle relaxant itself is good for about 5. it's not the best one for all day relief, but i find it great for: 1. getting to sleep 2. procedures like US, MRI, dentist, etc 3. kind of resets my body so i don't need the effects all day long, just once a day to reset things, then under the special circumstances like in #2 or if i'm having some major issue, then i'm usually not functional anyway and just want to sleep. but really all kinds of muscle relaxants out there, just find the best one for you. the only other one i have tried was the old flexeril, i was zombie marshmallow man on it 24/7 (well, maybe only 24/3 as i went off it in almost no time, could not function on it!)

happy swimming in your split pea soup! roll

Ok! Thanks Sue, I'll check out the 1/2 life of zanaflex as compared to cyclobenzaprine. I had to take it this am, because we were going to an early morning wedding and my back was being a bit obnoxious. I thought for sure it would have worn off by 1pm... but my heart was definitely thumping at the end of my swim. yes

Go TEAM! clap

cyclobenzaprine, that's flexeril. i believe its the oldest one out there, at least its an older generation of drug. the positive is that it is cheap. the negative is that there are much better drugs out on the market now. i think the half life of flexeril is like a million years or so! ok, maybe not quite that long, but it was a long long time, for me anyhow. the side effects just didn't justify the good effects for me. but zanaflex, much better. i've heard others talk about skelaxin too. and i know there are others. but i've been so happy with the zanaflex (generic now so cheaper) that i never thought much about any other. but the flexeril, i think that should only be given to bed ridden patients because i wasn't really of much use on it, certainly couldn't drive on it, or work. but that mushy muscle feeling was kind of cool! cool2 then too, everyone's different when it comes to drug side effects.

thanks for the feedback regarding the vibrums.

walking in my keds today, was wondering if i'm already pretty close to the barefoot shoes. the bottoms are so thin, i can feel pebbles when i walk on them. just a flat flat bottom and thin canvas. they are one of the few things that don't bother my feet or knees.

anyway, still considering them, except for the toe thing. but there are other "barefoot shoes" that don't have the toe thing going on, so others to consider as well. http://barefootrunningshoes.org/ i did try on the nike free, but they had arch support and so weren't really so free. for me its not just the flexible sole, but the lack of arch support, forcing my foot into an unnatural position that is the problem.

as for price, agreed. the loafers i just bought were over $100 but worth every penny. did buy the $300 custom orthotics, too bad they don't work. however, for me, since its the arch support in most shoes that is my undoing, ironically the cheaper shoes tend to be better for my feet. like my keds, i think they're only about 20 dollars and i have to replace them yearly, but so far, the only sneaker i've found to work in like the last 10 years or so. there was a sneaker that worked for me, can't remember which brand, but they discontinued it, as usual.

but do like the concept of the barefoot shoe.

they do have socks with individual toes that you can wear, but many people just wear them without socks. they really do fit like a glove, so socks probably not necessary.

hubby has once again emphasized that if i get them, he will not be caught with me in them. i understand, they are the most bizarre looking things. i was wearing them around the store to see what i thought of them, and every time i looked down, i just had to laugh! but comfort first!

I started the telecommute thing today. I worked my typical day, went for a noon time bike ride and felt like I had a vacation day. Too bad this is only one day a week. What a great day!

yay! glad you are enjoying your telecommuting day! clap

and that's a lot of miles! very motivating! yes
