Wow, Seb, I'm glad you let us know about your private message so we can assure you that that statement is a minority opinion.

I was 15 when I had my first flare; could've totally ruined my junior year of high school if not for the support of my parents and teachers.

My 18 year old hasn't been diagnosed yet, but has many of the symptoms of AS and he feels lucky that his mom understands when he tells about his pains. His friends and coworkers have no idea.

Anyway, this is the place to come and vent when things are tough; it helps us get through the tough time.

when will you find out about going abroad?

Hey Seb

Well you know I think the world of you, don't you? (I'm sure you do) smile

I miss you when you are not on here and think about you a lot - as I have done since your first post.

I admire your openness and honesty about how you are feeling. You have shared a lot about your situation at home and I think you are courageous for doing so.

It is great that you do not bury your head in the sand, but try to help yourself in any way possible. Keep asking questions and let us continue to help and support you with your AS. That is what this site is for.

Hope you can get your AS into remission and catch up on some of the things you have been missing lately. You are so young to be struck down with this - good on you for repeatedly brushing yourself off and picking yourself up again.

I think you are fantastic yes clap yes

Seb, We all have our bad days and come here to vent. I don't know of anyone who uses this website that doesn't complain at some time. We share our good days and bad. You have been given a lot of good advise here, I just don't understand how someone from KA could ever say such a hurtful thing. Keep posting, we all like to hear from you.

They called you a GIRL!?? confused2

I would NOT let that go, I'd smack 'em with my make-up case and bonk 'em on the head with my purse for saying that!!! mad

but seriously, you get extra points for staying open even during those times when don't get good support from people that don't understand, can't understand, and may never ever understand

nothin' more tough and manly than that hugss

Seb, you have nothing to apologise for!

I really hope that you will keep opening up to people and just be yourself. From all the great replies you've had to your post and from all the time you've spent on KA, I'm sure you know the majority of kickers are here to support you, to listen and help if/when we can. Nah, don't let one voice change a thing... we come on here to help each other!

Oh and I sent you a PM. smile

You said it and what I great attitude you have--it will make all the difference with this disease. This community keeps growing and I can't keep up with names but I missed that you are just 17...and you are a great writer as well. This forum is all about complaining/venting and in fact it has been brought to my attention that I don't complain enough so I'll make a note to do so. laugh2 Follow your dreams!

I hope you don't let one hurtful message keep you from coming here and sharing with everyone. Venting is what we do and this is the place to do it without worring about being judged. It takes a real coward to private message someone a message like that. If that person really feels that way about someone here they should come out of the shadows(like a man) and post that same type of comments right here for everyone to see.

Take Care Seb

Seb,
I am sorry that someone felt the need to send you such a hurtful and ridiculous message. As the youngest regular contributor to this forum, you have shown a great deal of courage and determination to deal with this disease. You have tried to take your treatment into your own hands at a time in your life when many of your peers would have given up. Please don't let the misinformed comment of one individual crush your spirit.

Hey Seb, I must say, I'm am really angry that someone sent you this ridiculous message. The purpose of kickas is for support. AS is a very lonely disease. We don't have people to talk to who understands our disease like other obvious diseases. Kickas is our safety zone, our rock. We talk freely among ourseves knowing others here understand and those of us that are dionasaurs are here to help you youngsters. There is no limit to our venting (complaining as this misguided person likes to impress)
Since you have been with us, you have been a wonderful addition to our family and uplifting and inspiring to our younger members. Please do not let this one person stop you from engaging with us, hey, that means even "complaining"
Cindy
