that IS exciting news that i can relate to! i too envision getting back in the pool one of these days once the SI joint is settled down a bit, so i understand the excitement of getting back to something we once loved doing. and anticipation is rewarding in itself. keep up the good work, but don't be like me; meaning, when i find i can do something, i often do it with gusto and abandonment, go overboard, and have to back up a little, so please ease into it! smile

today, we went for the same walk, but went a bit further, to the old beaver pond, a mere remnant of what it was, impressive how much effect the beavers had, til farmer brown dredged it / removed the dam. the old beaver dwelling is there, the entrances are now exposed where they used to be under water. no idea if the beavers still live there or have moved on.

what a pretty day too. overcast most of the day, but then the sun came out during our walk, but still lots of clouds in the sky, so very dramatic skies with sun shining through and illuminating the clouds. and the weather was perfect for walking: a bit chilly early on, so wore a sweater, but once i got moving, tied the sweater around my waist and was very comfortable.

walked 2 miles, 60 minutes (picture taking and a bum knee slowed me down, but had a great time none-the-less).

Good job! clap

Since you're out of the USA, and might not have seen this, here's one of the new Arthritis Foundation TV commercials. It cracks me up, but it is serious stuff.

Good job! clap

I think the team needs monthly updates on the progression of the beaver pond. I'm starting to envision it as the one in the first C.S. Lewis movie... Lion, Witch, & Wardrobe?

Right on! clap

I think changing it up really helps with overall health. I'm wondering if I could go back to the elliptical... but I'm going to wait a whole year in between changes in routine from now on. I am SOOOOO tired of hurting myself.

DITTO! I can't use those barbells, because they hurt my elbows and shoulders. But I see people using them every single day. I think the colleges are getting the clue about the value of water exercise for the athletes, as I see the teams running in the water several days per week.

Good job on the exercise! clap

My friend just competed in her first 1/2 tri-athalon last August. She has bad knees, so she walked during the running part. And the swimming was in Lake Washington ~~ Brrrrr.... eek2

The pool I swim in is 25yds x 50 meters. Even though the metric system is the official USA measuring system, we still have inches, feet, yards, and miles EVERYWHERE. laugh2

I have indeed noticed that if I pay more attention to turning that I don't get hurt as easily on the turns. But all in all ~~ yep, the long course is WAY better. rainbow

Hi Team, This morning I woke up so sick and tired of being in pain when I wake up. Just once I'd like to wake up and be able to move my neck without the assistance of my hands, and be able to get coffee without limping, and be able to pee without feeling like I'm 98yrs old when I try to lower myself to the john. I'm stuck w/out NSAIDS forever now, and after a couple of pain days taking narcotic pain meds I feel sick to my stomach in the morning. I hate taking those stupid things, because they make me constipated and then when I con't need them I get shakey. And as an added bonus, since the death of my daughter when I take the narcotic pain meds they make me cry. I want to be able to drive again, but that doesn't look likely. And even though it looks like I'll be offered a 1/2 time job at the library next week, I'm not entirely sure if I can do the job as using my hands for 4 hours at a stretch might not be an option any more. Phew! Now that I've got that off my chest, I'll get up and go about my day. Thanks for listening. heart
