Magnesium pills works wonders for me. Magnesium helps make the potassium available to the cells.

Hi cubsgirl - C.Horses, cramp, is ghastly. Massage 'at the time' will help - as witness athletes when they cramp up (recent Tour de France, one competer had to receive leg massages due to horrendous cramp).

Now: potassium; magnesium; these are your two main remedies and, good but normal, hydration.

Also, might find a seaweed supplement helpful.

Oh yes, and stretch. Never shorten the muscle cause that will make it all a lot worse - that being *exactly 'what' is happening anyways! Stretch the muscle 'out', and stretch it out again and again. Might also find that stretches before bedtime 'might' help muscles not cramping up during the night. But the potassium, magnesium and seaweed supplement will assuredly help.

Best to you -

I'm a trapeze artist, and I have an awful time with Charlie Horses and prednisone. Can't even point my toes without going into agony. It's awful! Just have to roll around on the floor and wait it out. I also take time to stretch and rest.
