too much smoke for my lungs the last week. My pup does not even want to go out mid day - nearly 100 every day.

I am still mowing / moving hoses, etc.

Go team go!

Today's run 8.3 mile in 1 hour and 21 minutes. I ran up the canyon this morning because it is not as hot. I am not used to all that up hill, and then down hill. No fires in that canyon. I signed up for a 1/2 marathon in September.

It's only 83F out and I have my air conditioner on already. I feel like such a sissy.

Anyway, yesterday I tortured my back by lifting many heavy boxes, took meds all day, cleaned my sister's house for 3 hours and then "swam" for 1.5 hrs, - actually tried to stay above water in the deep end while 7 grandnieces/nephews jumped and dove around me.

I may swim laps later, but I feel very much like lazing about in my PJs all day.

Go TEAM! clap

Erica...that makes me feel so good that you consider all movement excersizes because there are days when I feel like I do a lot with housework, gardening, playing with the pets and by evening I feel too tired to do anything else.

Today I went and helped my family at a softball tournament, took pictures, helped clean and close the concession stand...which required a lot of walking.

Thank you for making me feel like everything I do matters.

Lisa

I finally swam last night! It took a while for our pool to warm up enough for me! lol.

Swam 200 yards

I had to start out small, and quit just before the muscle spasms came to town!

I have also started piano lessons as exercise therapy for my crippled hands/wrists. It is fun! She let me start in the purple books!! I feel pretty special! After 3 weeks of it I can actually "snap" my fingers on my left hand again. It's been 3 years since I could do that. AND I have been able to open a few bottles and jars myself this week. It is really increasing my strength. I can almost snap with my right hand. Progress!!

60 minutes of Piano practice.

Keep it up my friends! You are inspiring me!

Small!?!? roll When I started swimming laps I had to wait at the end of the pool to catch my breath every 25 yds, and even then could only swim a lap or two. blush

And good job on the piano, too! cheerleader

All movement counts! That's according to the Arthritis Foundation. It's not just my opinion! yes (God help us all if we went by my opinion). devil2

donnette,

that sounds like how bad my hand was after that really bad dq "tendonitis" / "tendonosis" / lots of scar tissue.

had a hand PT who worked with me before and then after a well placed cortisone shot. my hand / wrist / thumb had atrophied so badly that i could not brush my hair or teeth with that hand, could not snap my fingers, and lots of other things i couldn't do.

what got me there was having my hand in a brace per doctors orders. when he saw me after that month, he was shocked how much damage had occurred. sent me off to the PT who got me back functioning.

ultrasound, lots of contrast baths, and hand exercises, but not too much exercise as that just reaggravated the tendons.

took awhile, but the strength did come back. it does seem like immobility is one of our biggest enemies.

your "therapy" sounds way fun! mine was lifting washers on rubber bands with my thumb, not nearly as exciting, though did get my husband into laughing fits!
