Hey, we need a thread on hockey, eh? Being on the west coast, I'm a Vancouver Canuck fan and they just squeaked past the Detroit powerhouse in game 1. Detroit will be tough and the Canuckleheads are definitely the underdogs.
Who's going to go all the way?!

Sorry Timo, but being from the Detroit area and even tho the (mighty) Wings lost their first game, I gotta go with my Wings. Never has there been an NHL team in history with 3, 600 goal scorers on the same team at the same time. Robitaille, Hull, Yzerman make a formidable trio. Can't forget about Fedorov, Shanahan, Draper & Chelios either. Please tell your boys to go easy on the Wings so that I don't have to eat crow.

They lost game one against the Sharks last night, but maybe, just maybe.....

We'll have to wait and see.

Del,
I wish your Coyotes all the luck in the world this year. The Sharks look pretty tough this year. I hope the Wings will get by Vancouver. Its always scary to lose that first game.

You have a Flyer fan here... They did not look good the last couple of weeks but squeaked by in the opener... If they get on a roll like they were earlier in the year could be tough to beat... If the kid gets hot could be the year... Have to have that super hot goalie to get to drink from Lord Stanley's Cup.....

Hi Paul. I was a Leaf fan during my formative years and still have a spot for them. They look good and I hope they do well.
Cheers,

Timo,
What are those silly Canucks trying to do? Spoil the Red Wings Stanley Cup party?? Tell them guys they're not supposed to beat the Wings. After an 0-2 start, its looking pretty scary for my guys. How in the world do they zip through the season and then look so crummy in the playoffs. Oh, well. Best of luck to you and the (choke) Canucks.

Sorry Glenn,

I am one happy to see the Canucks up in the series 2-0. I have an Uncle that is a huge Red Wings fan that will be impossible to live with if they win the Cup this year. The Minnesota Gophers already won the NCAA Championship, so I have to listen to my brother yap for a year. But I do like Chelios (reason below) and admire Steve Yzerman (ultimate professional and team captain).

First love is Wisconsin Badgers Hockey, not as fluid and graceful as the NHL, but can not beat the college atmosphere with the band, all the noise from the student section and the seive chant each time the Badgers score a goal (nothing like 12,000 fans pointing at the opposing goaltender and calling him a sieve).

For NHL I now follow the Coyotes since I recently moved here. Prior I followed the Lightning since I lived in St. Petersburg, FL. Major improvement (no major loyalites since no NHL team in Wisconsin where I grew up).

Badgers currently in the NHL
Player Position Team
Chris Chelios Defense Detroit Red Wings
Dany Heatley Wing Atlanta Thrashers
Sean Hill Wing St. Louis Blues
Curtis Joseph Goalie Toronto Maple Leafs
Scott Mellanby Wing St. Louis Blues
Brian Rafalski Defense New Jersey Devils
Paul Ranheim Wing Philadelphia Flyers
Steve Reinprecht Center Colorado Avalanche
Mike Richter Goalie New York Rangers
Gary Suter Defense San Jose Sharks
Dave Tanabe Defense Carolina Hurricanes

Take care,

Tim

Detroit 3, Vancouver 1. Vancouver up in the series 2-1 now. Last nite was a huge game in the series. Hard (impossible) for me to stay up that late to see the games, so I caught the score this a.m. I have been a fan of Michigan State U. Football, Basketball & Hockey for a long time. I would love to see Anson Carter in a Red Wing uniform someday. Bob Essensa was a former MSU player too, kind of a jaded NHL career tho. Best of luck to the Canucks.
