Hi Gilth,

Have they not tested you for B12 deficiency ? I am B12 deficient and take a shot every month. The damage was done by the time this was figured out. I have severe neuropathic pain and muscle weakness. I sure did not respond over night from one injection. It took six months to make any improovements. I had terrible tingling on my skin, and then burning pain. Good luck with your testing.

I have had Vitmin B checked, but I have no clue if that was B12 specifically. And either way, I read in multiple online medical sites that nerve damage most often occur even before tests show you as defficient.

Hi

My B12 def was caused from my acid medication. These proton pump inhibitor's prevent B12 from being absorbed orally.

I saw the company doctor today. I told him about me wanting a B-vitamin shot and an MRI to checks for MS. I said I was asking him as I was running into a wall with my GP. He basically told me that I had to sort it out with my GP, or change GP.

Then he gave me the good old talk about how when nothing has shown in tests, it is in the head, and when I told him that he and other doctors had a tendency to forget that anxiety is ALSO caused by a whole host of conditions and sideffects, he got really sore, and wanted to quit the conversation, as I was "putting words in his mouth". Then I told him that he really couldnt be that sensitive in his line of work, and that unlike him I knew and had lived with anxiety for 17 years, and would know the difference between nerve pains and anxiety. And then I quit the conversation.

This would be an appropriate space for some swearwords to describe how impressed I am with doctors.

All I wanted was at least a vitamin B shot, and then maybe if I was lucky a referal to MS MRI. Apparently not something I deseved.

Oh my gilth.

I take a sublingual B complex that I get at the Health Food Store. It has as much B-12 in it as an injection. My pain management dr put me on to it. It is inexpensive and you can take all you want because B vitamins are water soluable. I found some at the drug store but they don't have the amount that the ones at the health food store does. You might look for them.

Blessings.

Janet - What acid medicine are you are? I have been taking Nexium for years for acid reflux. I tried to kick it a couple times and ended up with erosion of the wall nearly through the throat.

Hi

I take Losec but they all cause this side effect if on for long term use. Have your B12 checked. I also tried to quit Losec but I have a hiatus hernia and I just couldn't stand the pain and pressure.
