Last week walked for three of the school pick ups 2 miles each Walked up the hill 2 miles
At the weekend did a fantastic felt making course which involved lots of vigorous rolling of rolls of wet felt.
So far this week walked two school runs.
Good job!!! I've wanted to felt for so long! Did you take pictures?

Great job! I love to see the progression of your walks! Photos please?

I have this new rule whereby I either walk or cycle to the grocery store and only bring back (and eat) what I can carry.
Awesome to have you on the team! LOVE the grocery idea!

I've been swimming two days per week, but am planning to increase it to three days per week. I've been very conservative about increasing the swimming for fear of aggravating my joints too much - as it is I sometimes have sore ankles or wrists or ribs the next day.
I currently work at home on Wednesdays, so have a mid-week swim and then another swim in the weekend. If I want to add another day it would be at the end of a full day at work plus bus ride to the pool near home - it will be interesting to see how I cope with that, but plan to try on Friday.
That's awesome! I'm just now increasing my swimming as well.

So, I'm doing the maximum time on every joint method of keeping my mobility. The theory is, and I learned it here somewhere - most likely in a Molly post, that if one uses each joint to the maximum ability each day, mobility either increases or stops decreasing.
So… I've changed my swimming workouts to every other day in the late afternoon, and I'm slowly working up to a mile each time. I take a pain med right when I get into the pool, and a muscle relaxer right after I'm done swimming.
Yesterday I swam 1,500 yds and even though I had to take an extra pain med after I got into bed, I woke up feeling great.
Stay tuned! I credit my dad for insisting that I could still be a "normal" person, even though I was living with arthritis at age 8. I'm so grateful for the Arthritis researchers who spend their lives searching for a cure.

I come here and I am thrilled at all you are doing. I hope I really am going to be able to join you after surgery. I made it across the street to day to see my neighbor's flower garden. That was progress.
Keep it up! You never know when next week you can't.
While it sucks to have this as an adult, it seems so unfair for kids to have to suffer like this.
But they are so resilient; we can learn a lot from them at the same time.
Yes, they are right; arthritis hurts. Well said.
PS watching it again: 300,000 kids with arthritis / 200 doctors "that can help them" is 1500 kids per doctor. Wow!
PSS also an eye opening reminder that its the number one leading cause of disability in America. And yet, I think its largely ignored by the public. I see all kinds of resources for other kinds of disabilities, which is great, but do feel arthritis is largely ignored.
PSSS They are so cute. How could anyone not pay attention to that message; thanks for posting it!

I'm pretty sure that's in their job description. But good job doing the work! That's what will get you back out on the trails/roads!
Yesterday I limped a mile slowly.
Today I swam a mile in 50 minutes.

Went swimming again last Friday 30 lengths (25m) 20 mins
Yesterday walked up hill we've been warmer in winter! Also did a shorter 'after dinner' walk.
Lu still not back to being ridden and I am definitely feeling it in lack of suppleness.

I've been slacking on logging in my exercise this week!
Today-feet & hands very angry about the garden....limped 1/2 mile to the pool, swam 500 yds, limped 1/2 mile back. Yesterday-planted seeds at the community garden for 1.25 hrs, swam 1 mile Sunday-swam 3/4 mile Friday- rode my trike 1 mile, swam 1 mile.
So far the increase in swimming plan is working. Fingers crossed!

I have an iPhone app called Walkmeter and it's helping me get out.
It's pretty cool: - records my walk on Google Earth with GPS - measures my speed - times the walk - measures elevation - save the walk in History so you can keep track - you can export the walk as a klm file (and a bunch of others) so it's viewable in Google Earth.
I got the idea I can do some fun stuff with it. A friend helped me find some shorter blocks where I can spell "Timo". I figure it would take about an hour and that's a haul for me so we'll see if I can do it. I tried one of my own but had to quit after the T and the I. Looong blocks... I can make designs in a field so that's another cool thing to think about. It would be nice to be able to change the colour of the tracking from the basic black to other colours. Might ask the company about that. One could do a bike trip the same way. Bottom line it's getting me outside
