I went running 1.5 miles on Wednesday. Yesterday I spent 1.5 hours at the church farm weeding. After that I went home, and iced my shoulder for a 1/2 hour.

That's awesome! cheerleader Are you in heaven running again? I just weeded at my community garden for 30 minutes and had to stop because my back is too stiff!

On Saturday I was on the elliptical for 48 minutes.
Erica: It feels good after I get started running, but before I start I have this fear of falling again. It is a barrier that I have to get past.

This morning I went 2.6 miles. Half was running, and half walking. If I could get over this fear of falling I would have run about 2 of the miles. It is a big mental block.

Hi Everyone!

So, it's been 9 days since my last post. That is because I have been in a gruesome flare caused by my own stubborn actions.

What I told ya'll a few days ago is that the ride to Denver & a weekend training caused my flare.

The REAL TRUTH is that just before the 3.5 hr ride to Denver, I attempted to help my hubby set up the NAMI Farmer's Market booth in 97F wind. Yep, that's me… StuperWoman! Ugh. I hate when I do that kind of thing.

In about 12 minutes of setting up the booth I got vomiting heat stroke sick, complete with butterfly mask which took 3 hrs to even start to go away. And I've had some serious neuropathy in my feet, ankles, and hands since then.

The good news is that TODAY IT'S FINALLY STARTED TO GO AWAY!

The bad news is that I was in such a bad mood that I didn't track my exercise very well.

Yesterday I swam for 1 hr.
Friday I cleaned house for 2 hrs.
Thursday I swam for 45 minutes.

Before that? Can't remember.

More GOOD NEWS. I'm taking Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions a healthy self care class that was developed at Stanford. It's AMAZING!

A doctor once told my husband that his fear of heights was a result of physical vertigo, that it was not the fear keeping him from taking a job which would require him to climb telephone poles. The doc said that the brain creates sensible fear, and when the body is capable the fear goes away.

You're my hero for running at all! cheerleader

Just do what you can until you can do more! grin

Erika,
Glad you are in a program at Stanford, sounds interesting, you will have to tell us all about it.

I swam 10 laps and went on the exercise bike.

Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year.

That link doesn't work for me; could you post it again? I'd like to read about it.

And how dare you for trying to lead a "normal" life! hugss

I think its great that no matter how many times we are knocked down, we get up and try again. You were just doing that. heart

I think its commendable to test our limits. Though the end results are definitely not worth it.

Anyway, the weather held out this weekend and was able to walk:

1 mile, 20 minutes each day.

but also yesterday housework kept me on my feet moving around.

and today, went to the farm market and orchard, then potted herbs that I bought last week. This year I compromised and put them in planters and pots instead of in the ground cause that was a bit easier on my body. Though now on Humira, maybe next year I can have my in the ground herb garden again.

the nice thing with the Humira is that I can walk, stand, etc, and there truly is no inflammation in my feet, for the first time in how many years? I can't tell you when they have felt like this. And I just keep thinking, now I understand why others don't seem to have a problem standing in lines, etc. It's not supposed to hurt. Duh!

Good jov! cheerleader

It's a class here in Colorado that was developed at Stanford, but I have to admit I'd love to have some Stanford weather right about now. It was 108F here yesterday.
