If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Wendy, I'm glad to hear you're on the mend; especially that you are doing so well so quickly!
Love and warm hugs,

Hi Wendy: How are you? How is the new hip? I wish you the same success with the procedure as I have experienced! This past year I looked into getting back to downhill skiing! Next year I hope to hit the slopes! Continued good health to you...Tom

Thanks Tom. I'm doing really well and hope to be back to work within the week. I'm walking with a cane and doing two walks a day, about a kilometer each time. In the evenings I'm very tired, partly because my haemoglobin is still very low. Eating liver twice a week and taking supplements to try and get it back up.
My other hip is the hold up from making further improvements as it is very painful ( worse than the surgical hip) by the time I get back from my walks. But I'm on the list for the other hip, hopefully within the year.
I have a new grandson born just over a week ago so that has me high as a kite. I have three granddaughters so this is the first boy. He totally takes my mind off my hip.
Also, having a good rheumatologist who is paying serious attention to the damage that has already occurred is helpful. The first three were rather dismissive because I'm seronegative and the attitude was 'it can't be that bad then'. This one looks at the radiology reports and says, 'Yep, it's pretty bad'.

Wendy, I'm so pleased to hear that you are doing well for the most part since the surgery. Not pleased about the other hip needing it, but at least they're on it.
Congratulations on the new grand-baby!!!!!
Love and warm hugs,
Kat

Thanks Kat and Joyce. You'll be pleased to know I was able to return to work today. And managed fairly well.
As for my new grandson - his name is Felix and he is absolutely cute! You can just imagine how much I am enjoying him!

oh Wendy, it's been a while since I signed in.... you have had the op? hope it went well and you are doing well. two mistakes I made in my pre and post op saga 1) I underestimated the severity of the op 2) I thought I could hasten recovery times with more exercise I have just signed in after a lengthy spell. I must checked your posts and see how you are doing If I can help with anything give us a PM PS watch out for them post op blooze

Haha! Thanks Pea! However, I did figure out today that the surgical leg is a tiny bit longer so I'll have to ask the surgeon to try and even them out when he does the second one. no Wendy it is your gait. your leg length will be fine. it is your hips making a readjustment. EVERYONE in post op imagines their leg lengths to be different, it's normal to believe this and nearly always not the case

Hi Salty, I'm doing really well. In fact, just returned to work on Thursday. I noticed that if I overdid the exercises it set me back. I would have more swelling and discomfort so I worked at pacing myself. I can now walk about 2 km with my cane, although I have to take a fairly slow and steady pace.
One of my challenges is trying to get my haemoglobin and iron back up. They're still very low despite all my efforts to eat iron rich foods and take iron supplements. The second challenge is that my second hip is pretty bad and limits my exercise levels so it will be hard to build up the new hip to the level I want. I'm on the list for the second hip but it could be a wait of eight months as it is not as severe as the first one.
Don't seem to be suffering too much from post-op blues, probably because I have a new baby grandson born two weeks ago. They live on the same property as us so I get to see them regularly.

I quickly figured out the surgical leg is not longer. The feeling lasted about ten days and slowly went away. I think it may partly have been due to swelling as well as gait. But I no longer have any sense of being lopsided!
Thanks John. Your earlier posts were very helpful to me.
