Piscatorial medicare . If you are really sick find a doctor to go fishing with smile. I have two grown children .I lost them when they were very small to my first marriage failure. I've tried twice and crashed and burned twice. I see my son and grand daughter once a year. My daughter never makes contact. I don't let it worry me I never did anything wrong my problem seems to be in my choice of partners.

If nothing else I have been a successful survivor or as my second wife put it you haven't even been lucky enough to catch anything terminal. At least she was smiling when she said it. Actually we still get on very well , she never ever found the greener grass on the other side of the fence. Ron.

ron - how are you today?
no fishing for me and I want to go.

Doing yard work and finishing up the hand rail on my deck.

I would be interested to hear your voice. I have an Iowa, Midwest sound, so they say.

Take care, do a few things you enjoy, If "Hawaiian Air" flies to your City I may come and visit.... scary,eh?

G'day lon,
I think that fishing trip was a big mistake. I have multiple issues apart from AS. One of the serious ones is nephrotic syndrome which is the loss of over 3 grams of protein thru my urine. In Jan I started losing 7 grams a day after a bout of parainfluenza. I was put on cyclosporine which is major league immuno suppressant. It brought my protein loss down to 2 grams. You are not supposed to lose any more than 150 mg a day. I take two blood pressure meds , midcardis 80mg and diltiazem 240 mg. They do several things . They maintain my blood pressure at around 135/80 and the diltiazem slows down my ventricular and atrial ectopic heart beats. It also allows me to take a much lower dose of cyclosporine to achieve the desired serum levels. I monitor my bp daily and when I see my nephrologist he checks my readings in memory. Since I went on my last fishing trip and got so ill , my blood pressure has been in the 170/110 range. Today it was 189/120. Kidney disease and high blood pressure go hand in hand. I fear I may have come out of partial remission that was keeping my loss at 2grams. Cyclosporine is just about my last hope . I am steroid resistant. I does not help at all. I will see my gp on wed abut I think I will be straight back to my nephrologist soon.
when you have so many issues you seem to live life on a tightrope. It is easy to get knocked off and very hard to get back on. All the best Lon, hope you are staying well.. Ron.

Is MTX?

Also those sound like really high doses.

I guess most of us are still learning all that medicine encompasses and the pharmacopeia thing. Glad I'm leaving mine to the experts.

It's funny the sequela uncontrolled systemic IBD and the like cause/eventually can cause.

I heard they like to prevent these complications.

I sure know it's not an honor/duty I want. I wouldn't be able to handle it.

Wanna know something else? My Physc is really interested in the role the mtor pathway plays in depression. Or also TNF-a/il-6 but he is not a complete expert on that side of things.

Ron- I know what you mean about the meds.
I just swallowed 15. There are days when I go off them for 3-5 days cause I just get fed up with the way I feel.
Chronic pain is just plain uncomfortable.

When my BP is down, then my heart rate drops to nearly 40 bpm.

Let's make up a fishing trip that we did not go on. Let us brag about the fish we did not catch. And of course we will have to laugh about the close calls and how great of survival experts we have become!

Ron- we must laugh at the fish that got away. Mine was bigger than yours!

Ron, I read your fish tale and it sure sounded a lot like Lon! Ron, meet Lon...oh I see you've already met and do have a lot in common. I only hope you 2 can actually go on a fishing trip so you can tell us a whopper debacle fish story. Do be wary around Lon...he seems a bit accident prone!
