Hi folks,

I would like to clarify something.
I have cognitive impairments...."Brainfog" those with fibro call it. For those of you who might not understand what that is....for me it consists of short term memory loss, inability to grasp the words I need to use, which causes me to have to make substitutions, and my hope is always that people can understand what I mean. It's much more involved than that for me too, but the word problems are the ones I'm talking about here.

I have isolated myself and have only few friends and only choose to spend time with people who know me well and understand that difficulty and make allowances for it. They know not to correct me since they know I know what I'm trying to say...I just can't always get it out.

I would hope that you will understand that as well and if you have trouble figuring out what I'm trying to say, please ask me to clarify. By then I might be able to. Sometimes it takes me a long time and loads of corrections to post and hopefully by that time I've corrected most of the errors, but I don't always catch them.

Thanks for listening,
Leona

Hi Leona.....
Thanks for the explanation. I understand. I read that on a forum once for folks with Fibro. They mentioned having trouble with memory at times. I can imagine how difficult that can be, but believe me ....I understand and as your friend wont worry about corrections....I'm here to support you not correct you.

Gentle hugs to you]]]]

Hi,

The term 'Brain Fog' is common around here so we pretty much know what you mean. The symtoms you describe fit me to a tee...just ask my kids. Imagine how confusing it would be to have a forum for brain fog...nobody would have a clue what was going on:)

Don't worry about it... when you are at KA, you are with understanding friends.

What Pete said. Here at KickAS we don't let a little thing like brain fog interfere with relationships with our friends. I think we've all had it from time to time, either from pain, the meds, stress, etc., although in varying degrees, some more pronounced than others. Let me say again, YOU ARE AMONG FRIENDS!!!! And friends generally know what other friends are saying or at least the gist of it because that's what friends are for, to listen.

Hi Leona!

Don't feel like you have to explain to your friends... we understand!!!! I know exactly what you are feeling at the moment... I also have CFS and 'brain fog' is complimentary with this as well!

Keep writing... we love reading your posts!

Take Care
Ann

That's OK. I can identify with brain fog, so we speak te same language It's really annoying at work when you can't think of a word that something is called.....luckily my coworkers can figure out what I'm trying to say if I point to it and say "THAT....that thingie...", and my mom usually finishes my sentences for me

Leona,

Brain fog
This is what I love about this place. Sometimes I can't believe the words that come out of my mouth I suppose everybody does it once in a while but it seems I do it a lot!
Of course typing helps because I have to slow down and think, usually my mouth opens and look out

hugs,
linda
