Hi All,
I am now going to make a complete jackass of myself with this question. Please though, be gentle with me. (It must be my meds causing brain fog!!)
What on earth does "Lol" mean?
Love
Sue
LOL means laugh out Loud and no you didn't make an as* out of your self .
John
Hi John
Thank you for clearing that one up. I have managed to decipher most of the "codes". I just couldn't figure that one out.
Love
Sue
Hi,
For the longest time I thought it meant Lots of Love so don't feel bad.
LOL,
Pete

That is the same thing I thought it meantubtil my mother told me what it meant. Pretty sad when I'm in my 40's and my mother new what it meant before I did.

John
Sue, don't feel bad, it was a long time before I figured that one out also.
And always remember no question is a stupid one, The only
stupid question is the one you don't ask,

Hi Sue,
That's one of the joys of KA - you can ask anything and someone's bound to come about with a response!! It took me ages, too, to figure out what lol meant...good that you asked!!
Cheers,
Catherine
Hey so did I!!

lol
I was too embarassed to ask.
Adios!
Buggie

Hi Sue,
Now maybe I am asking a silly question... but I am curious what a "dolt" feels like

Are you from back East or down South... met with some ladies that talked funny last weekend... but did not come across the term "dolt".
Meeting up with another lady that talks funny in two weeks... she introduced me to the term "Wicked"... I am still practicing using "Wicked" correctly in a sentence.... my instructor promptly corrects me when I am wrong

But I do not think there is any hope for me.
Glad you got your answer and I agree fully with Maxine's statement. Don't be afraid to ask questions here at Kickas.
Take care,
Tim
Hope is only a post away with KickAS.

Hi Tim
Dolt means idiot. It's a UK slang, amongst others. I will have to remember that the meaning of certain words are used differently in US. I would hate to be kicked off KA for using improper language. LOL

I've just printed your list out for future reference. I love CRAFT. That could be my signature.

Hey there, Tim!
Gee I wonder who the mystery woman is!! Wicked, huh ?? I can't wait to see what she thinks about that. Doubt she'll let that go by without comment...hmmm... Catherine
Hi Catherine
I think the mystery woman that Tim is referring to is me!

I never realized how often I used the word "wicked" until he brought it to my attention.

I am trying to teach him the proper use of the word, ie: wicked good, but I do think that he is a lost cause. He is after all a man, and you know how hard they can be to train properly

Lori

He is after all a man, and you know how hard they can be to train properly.
LOL@Lori!!!
Hey Lori,
I just knew that he was referring to you!! Nothing gets by us smart women!!! You are so right on about trying to train them. Maybe you'll have to lead by example and see if that does the trick!!
And...then...can you tell us why you use the word, wicked, so much ??
Catherine
Hi Ian,
IMHO...just to keep this going...it's a rare one that doesn't need...or benefit from some training!!!
gtg
Catherine
Hey Catherine,
l am not sure why I use wicked as much as I do.
I guess it must be New England slang or something. I remember growing up, my mother would always ask us how something could be wicked and good at the same time...

Guess it is just the kid in me. I never did grow up......

I know, I know...I just opened myself up for grief on that one.
Lori

Nah, Lori, it's really a sign of just how mature you are - you can own up to still being kid-like. Most of us just pretend that we're really mature ... I quite like wicked good. Am going to try and work it into a conversation and see if anyone notices.
Seems awfully quiet on the Tim front!! What sort of wicked stuff is he up to, I wonder ??
You thinking the same thing, Lori??
Catherine
Hi Catherine
You can use it as wicked good, wicked bad, wicked awesome, wicked grumpy, wicked bad/good mood, or just plain wicked. You get the idea.
I think that Tim is busy scheduling my vacation. Between and Trinka I dont have to do anything....ahhhh, the life.....either that or he is paying off Sherriff Joe to put me behind bars for the week so that he and Eric can go out and start trouble....hmmm, I just might be onto something there

Lori

Loz, another one I see alot is SWMBO= she who must be obeyed. J.R.
Lori
Wicked Lori as in broom toting old girl, mean to the bone. Just ask Eric. But then again all kids think parents are mean.

Sorry but you did ask for it.

Come to think of it Tim did say some thing about the Cops being his friends and having you put behind bars for the week. I just hope that we can see the pic of that.

John
Hi Ian
I'll be LMAO when you can't GOF.
Love
Sue
I am mean John. It is my job as a mom to be mean. Sooooo if Eric says I am mean, then I am doing good!

As for Tim....well, sorry..cant tell my secrets. But I will tell you this....you wont see me behind bars

Lori

J.R.
You've got the right idea...swmbo...excellent!!
Catherine
Hi again,
Thanks for giving me a few good ideas for what sounds good with wicked. Hopefully, Tim is working hard at making sure that your every need is taken care of...and that includes...paying off whoever he needs to so that you don't land up in jail!!
Catherine
Sue,
You're really catching on to using those abbreviations! W2G Catherine
Hi Catherine
Just thought I'd let you know, I am now officially allowed to enter the Women's Forum. See you in there.

Sue
I am hurt... I am quiet on the board and you assume I am up to no good

Have you been talking with Betty or Michelle?
I believe that Betty and Michelle were both sent to Vegas from the South and East to feel out us Left Coasters and if we are "Normal"

I do not think Michelle was convinced, so Lori is conducting a follow up investigation for the East Coasters

Maybe Betty is not convinced either... she wants to come to Arizona also.
Tim
Hope is only a post away with KickAS.
Tim is working "wicked" hard.....

Dunno Tim.....Maybe we could get Michelle over there too.
Could you handle Trinka, Betty, Michelle and me?

Lori

Hey now.... we got 15 Arizonans lined up to try and handle you alone.... you start throwing more troublemakers in the mix and I have to find more people!
I do not know how John did it with so many troublemakers in Ottawa last year and lived to talk about.....
Tim
Hope is only a post away with KickAS.
You think you got a handle on things?

Think again!

John handled it because he is the KING of trouble!

Lori

I can sense you had a big smile on your face when you read I thought I had things under control

Tim
Hope is only a post away with KickAS.
Big smile? I was rolling around just about wetting myself I was laughing so hard!

Lori

Lori
What do you mean I am the KING of trouble??? I would never say anything to hurt anyone. Well then again there is you but you can take it.

John
Well, Tim, speculation is rife over in the Women's Forum when you haven't been heard from in awhile. BTW, I think you'll need more than 15 people to keep Lori in tow!! She is one wicked smart woman!! (Lori - I think I'm starting to get the hang of this wicked stuff!!)
Catherine
Lori....now that would be wicked!!!
Trinka, Betty, Michelle, and Lori and allllllllll of the other ladies.
Boy, we could have some fun. !!!!!
Betty
Did you get that from the books by John Mortimer "Rumpole of the Bailey?" He uses the phrase a lot.

What's that old saying? The UK and the US, two countries separated by a common language

I remember before I went to Portugal to live for a time I had a tutor to teach me Portuguese, she was originally from Hungary and had lived in Brazil as a kid - - and yeah, I had a sort of weird accent, Hungarian Brazilian Portugues

. Well, I ended up speaking pretty passable Brazilian Portuguese - - which made me almost unintelligible when I got to Portugal

Besides pronounciation there was that "word" disparity. For instance, in Brazil it's perfectly okay to refer to a young unmarried woman as a senorita. In Portugal that means a prostitute

You're either a child (crianca, with a funny little comma under the "c"), or you're a woman (senora).

Probably originated as a slang term during the Salem Witch Trials

Yup You are doing good Catherine!

Lori

Funny, Lori, but I don't think I ever remember you using "wicked" in any of our conversations. Maybe, early on, you might have. I don't know, back then I was not fluent in Bhastonian. But I am getting better at it. "Wicked" is a pretty common explicative here in the South as well, though, so I do understand its implications. For instance, I'd say "Lori is going to have a wicked trip to Arizona, and Tim is also in for a wicked time," and I would not be saying anything close to the same thing. Sorry Tim, don't want to worry you too much!

, or Get Outta Florida, but I flew home last night. I'm stumped.

I had to laugh trying - hard!! - to picture your Brazilian Portuguese Hungarian accent. Must have been a real treat listening to you speak!!

Don't forget this one that you will definitely see all the time at KickAS:
IAIYH - It's all in your head
Unfortunately, many of us hear this way too often, that's why we have abbreviated it.
Well, from what Sam says, I would guess at Grumpy Old Fart!

Sorry, couldnt resist.....maybe cheerful is rubbing off on me....Now
that is scary!

From writing to you I get the impression that you are just the sweetest person one could meet. I would not want to corrupt you or have you change your opinion of me. This is just one of my WICKED!!!!! sides. I am a bit like like a chameleon, but a nice one.
Hi Sue,
Well...not that's where you are wrong!! I have a very wicked sense of humour & so don't worry about corrupting me.
Oh Sue, oops, I accidentally sent my previous post before it was finished. Don't know what got into me ! I'm one of those people who mindlessly pushes buttons without thinking - duh!! So...indulge that wicked good side of yours and I promise - really, truly - that I won't change my opinion of you. (Lori - am still practicing and getting better by the hour!!)
