John (DragonSlayer) had surgery on his neck Wednesday and everything appears to have gone well. Although he expected to walk out of the hospital in just a couple days and continue with his plans to go to the Philipines next month ( ), his doctor had other ideas. John, much to his chagrin, must wear a Halo Brace for about two months and the Philipines are definitely out of the question until further notice. His wife, Annie, will keep me updated on his progress and I will pass them along to you. Also, next time she calls, I'll get an address so anyone who wishes may send him a card.

Thank God all went well!

Aww poor John having his plans quashed like that. Just a delay, though. I can't imagine he won't take long to get back on track.
Speedy recovery John!

Thanks for the update.

Pete, thank you so much for the update. I'm relieved to hear that John came through the surgery well. When you speak to them next, please pass on my good wishes for a speedy recovery. He'll be in the Phillipines before the winter is out, I have no doubt, for John is a stubborn ASer and won't let this keep him down for long.

I'm sorry, when I saw your subject heading and realized what your post was about, I couldn't get the image of John with a halo in some Rennaissance painting out of my head.

Many hugs,

Wow, thanks for the update Pete, I'll pm him with a 'you rock'...
Peace

I'm so relieved to read your post!!! Great news to know that John made it through that scary surgery and that it all went well!! Thanks for keeping us all in the loop, Pete!

I can't imagine having to spend 2 long months in a halo... my goodness. Please give him my very best if you're in touch anytime, Pete. I really hope his pain won't be too awful and that somehow the healing time will pass quickly, that he'll soon be enjoying the positive results of this trying time. We know he is one fiercely determined AS fighter!

If you get to read this thread John, please know I'll be thinking of you and still keeping you in my prayers.
All my best to you,
mig

Glad to hear that everything went allright. I wore one for 3 1/2 months once, it's no fun, but he will get through it. I wish him well. J.R.

Great news Pete - please give John ALL the VERY best from this side of the puddle. As others have said, the two months will pass real quick - he'll be in the Phillipines afore he knows the time has passed. Thanks for updating. Hope he is not in too much pain and that 'halo' is not too darn uncomfortable/discombobulating - tell him not to try grow any wings though!!

Hi

Day two update...Can't decide if the doctors felt he was well enough or the nurses demanded it, but he's going home tomorrow!?! It's only been 4 days for cryin' out loud! Is this normal? I can't help but be worried.

V. glad to hear that the surgery went well, and that John's still being John. Please do pass along our best wishes from here.

So John tumbled down some steps, let some Doc's knock him out with ther med's and then do all sorts of treacherous Doc things to him just toearn a halo.

You let him know Bruno has knocked a handful of angels senseless liberated their halos for resale and would've have been glad to sell one to John at a huge discount for all his good NSD work here.

As for John being tossed out of the hospital too quickley Bruno says that if this is so he can used an unpurchased halo as a restraining device on John's Doc by pushing it down over the DOc's head to about elbow level and convince said Doc to ever so gingerly toss John beck into the hospital with and upgrade to like a medical suite or something.

For my part all I cna offer is good wishes.

That's great news Pete--so glad to hear that the surgery went well. John, everyone here is pulling for you, and I hope your recovery goes as well--and as pain-free--as it possible can. Good luck as you get a little bit better each day.

Fantastic news the op was a success! Its worth waiting for the phillipines. No sense in going out there with a neck brace, imagine the tan line.

It'll take more than a broken neck and a foiled holiday to bring that man down.

Go on the Dragonslayer
