Beloved, it has been a tough few weeks.

I had double pneumonia, with left over scar tissue, my kidneys were shutting down and generally was kind of out of it.
I am home now. still on meds, but feeling better.
When I went in the clinic, my oxygen level was 70 - they said I was losing brain cells fast. Now think about it - all I needed to hear was that I was losing brain cells..... I have so few good ones left.. When they brought in some fowers; I wondered if they wre for my funeral....6 antibiotics with fluids. I gained 12 lbs in 6 days while in the hospital. I don't know whose feet those are down there; but those are not my little piggy's!
My arms are black and blue, because my veins /arteries would not hold the needles. and they asked me if two students could use my arms to pass thier IV phase of Nursing!!!!
My gut filled with fluids and I looked like I had a 20 gallon barrel for a stomach.

The hospital had no idea what a no starch diet was. But they do now.

Thanks for listening / reading. I have to have more lung x-rays, and have my sinus opened up and maybe the hiatial hernia repaired.
Snow here today! ground is white. But it will melt on the sidewalks.

My dear friend. I'm so sorry what is happening to you. I hate it when our bodies turn on us. You know I'm on my knee's right? Love to you and your family. Please keep us posted. I am worried about you. You have been such a good friend to me. I don't know what I can do from here but pray. Hang in there. Glad you educated the hospital on your diet!!!! Hopefully all of the med's that they pumped in you will help you feel better.

Had you had a cold that settled in your lung's? That stuff hurts. Love and God Bless

Oh my...was the blue sinus drainage a first clue that something serious was amiss? Sure hope you didn't catch pneumonia by following that video about how to stretch your leathers by staying overnight in the freezer with bags of water taped around ya?? eek You were supposed to have Lenny do that! Anyways glad to hear you're home recuperating & restoring the brain cells. Take it easy

Lon,

I get pneumonia easily now that the AS is attacking my ribs and have found that I can fight it off better
with loads of vitamin C. Several thousand milligrams divided up throughout the day.

Good luck to you, my friend. May God watch over and protect you.

fairly common for a (viral) infection such as a cold, the flu, etc

to develop into a bacterial infection such as pneumonia.

so yes, could have both.

the bacterial infection will require antibiotics. the viral infection, maybe antivirals, but often we have to let the body's immune system deal with the infection and we just treat the symptoms.

Yes, Lon is the king of maintaining-sense-of-humor. He is a professional. Hope you are still getting better each passing day, Lon. Are you preaching this Sunday, Easter? I figure it's 50/50. Either you are taking it easy in your recovery or you are saving up all your strength to be able to stand in the pulpit and celebrate the Resurrection. In any case, be well soon.

Oh dear Lon, that is a scary ordeal. A blood infection, sepsis is apparently very dangerous. Thankfully it seems that all the antibiotics must be helping and that you seem on the right road to recovery.

So glad to see you are up to posting. It always amazes me the spirit and the good humour you manage, even through the toughest of times. I think that means you are tuff! smile

Look after you please - KA needs a healthy Lon!!
And remember, a body needs some rest - even Lonnie knows that!
Posted By: Lon Re: Pneumonia / kidney failure / Septic - 04/06/12 04:41 PM
Mig,
I do ok, in regard to the power of positive thinking.
But my family here has always pulled me to dry land, when I thought I was drowning.
I have the funeral of an old family man in our community. It will be easy cause He did what he wanted, he loved and lived like the American dream.

thanks for taking the time...
Posted By: mig Re: Pneumonia / kidney failure / Septic - 04/06/12 05:29 PM
You certainly have mastered the power of positive thinking! I'm pretty good at it too, not as good as you though. smile Having family to pull you to dry land is a huge comfort.

Easter and a funeral too... I just hope you will steal some time to rest!

Please do take care of yourself, my friend. We need you here. Lin needs you at home. And I need your gently self-deprecating humour that fills my heart with warmth while it puts a wry smile on my face and a chuckle in my breath.

As you know we just turn into the wind, deal with the things we know about and give God all the authority to search our hearts.
Along the way, we lock arms with those who express love and devotion us.

I caught some bug and lost my voice. Can't use the phone, can only squeak. I have phone calls to make and customers who are waiting for me to bring their Avon orders over. Not much I can do but keep the house steamy and take it easy, doing lots of reading. I really love my e-book reader.
