Tom,

The pictures are great. I was so happy that you and Eleanor were able to come and visit and the arrival of Laura and Denis turned it into a mini party.

For anyone who is wondering, I don't make a habit of making visitors sit on the floor.

Sure glad you had your camera with you Tom. I hope everyone notices that we were all smiling in these pictures and no, I'm not going to tell you why.

Thanks Tom,
George

Oh wow! I'm going to gush -- ok -- consider this your pre-emptive 'Jeanna's about to gush' warning!

Oh gosh - now that I've said that, where to begin...

It's so fabulous to see you all together. Laura - you are stunning as always - and that picture with you looking (sorry I have to say it) adoringly on your smiling husband ... touching, truly very sweet. Tom, I don't know you as well (have to fix that ASAP ) but thank you, thank you for photographing the visit. (I always love seeing your photographs...) You all look like you had a blast! And George - oh! George! My eyes are watering. Seeing you all pretzeled up on the floor and obviously feeling so much better (oh - I always worry after I write something like that - please -good forces of the world - let George be feeling better still). And Dorrit - wow! that's one classy lady ... but that was a given, after all, we already knew she had fantastic taste.

Super photos, super people --- who could ask for anything more.

Love,
Jeanna

Sitting on the floor!!! I always liked you OG but not anymore. I figured you like me were not physically able to sit as you are in the photo on the floor.

It'd take me about an hour to get into the position you are in on the floor. I'd be brutally uncomfortable after 2 minutes and spend another hour getting up off the floor as long as a forklift was readily available.

Do us younger guys a favor and not show off in any photos.

Guess I should get my magnifying glass out and peruse Orch's half marathon photo to see if you are in the background among the folks fiinshing the 13 mile run just behind Steve.

Also give us some dirt on Tom. I know he can't really be the nice guyhe appears to be.

The smiles are mostly from looking at Laura and you just have to smile back, it's infectious. We did do a lot of laughing though as it seemed to be the mood we were all in.

You're right, it was great.

Tom was the most surprised when he saw me down on the floor as the previous visit he made to our place, I could barely get out of my chair. I was thinking about challenging anyone to arm wrestle but when I saw those arms and shoulders on Denis, I cancelled that idea.

Yes indeed, Tom is every bit the nice guy he appears to be. He has an almost baritone type of voice and probably has a good singing voice. Has a great sense of humour and quickly absorbs everything that is going on around him. My two teens were a bit disappointed that Tom didn't bring his truck with him. And, if you have any questions on wine Steve, just ask Tom.

Hey Steve, why don't you come up to the Ottawa party in August and we could compare our sitting capabilities. I'll even take you on in a race but no longer than 5 miles, I'm not in good enough shape yet.

That's not a bad idea Ray. I haven't been to Winnipeg since the summer I spent a couple of months at the Air Force base at Gimli. On the weekends, we would take a bus into Winnipeg and do some sight seeing. Sure saw some fierce thunder and lightning storms that year.

So when are you going to plan a Winnipeg KickAS party???

Oh that's so exciting getting to meet up! I'm so happy for you all! The smiles are infectious!

And George... so great to hear that fabric is still continuing to work for you so well... yay! You were going to let us know if it works on your neck too.. weren't you? Have you tried it in different positions at all yet?

Btw, I love all the native art you have in your home!
Take care!

Hi Mig,

Sorry I forgot to do that. The day after we had our little KickAS party, Dorrit and I went over on the ferry to Vancouver Island to spend the day with my brother. The ferry seats on one of the older ferries were not very comfortable and I had a pain in the neck when we arrived back home in the evening.

I wrapped the Farabloc cloth around it for half an hour and it went away. Haven't had a repeat of that pain since. Nope, not hoping for another pain so I can try the cloth in another position.

Actually, we have quite a number of west coast native prints and all of them are numbered prints. The cream of the collection are the three Bill Reid prints, one of which you can see right above me in the first pic that Tom posted. Another Reid can be seen to my left side in the pic of Laura and I standing. The third Reid is directly behind Laura's head. Bill Reid passed away only a few years ago and I believe that many of his prints can be seen on the net by now.

We are so used to them hanging there that I forgot to tell everyone to walk down the hall and around the corner and they would have seen a dozen more prints. It didn't occur to me that anyone would pick them out in Tom's pictures.

Dorrit started the collection a few years before we met each other. At that time, her only reason for buying them was because she liked them. It was only a very few years ago that we realized what an excellent investment her purchase was. We have been adding to the collection but stopped a while ago for lack of wall space.

Awwww MiG!

Thanks - due to a tragedy in the class, the faculty has been really good about getting the marks back to us sooner than usual (that way if anyone needed a rewrite they'd organize it ASAP - we're on Spring Break and it would be a great time to rewrite if it was necessary). So far, all reports are good, so as I've told a few others, I'm living each day with the "no news is good news" philosophy.

Thanks for the art comment - I have a small piece of native art (killer whale) in my study. I've heard legends that say the killer whale was once upon a time a great white wolf that jumped into the sea and became a whale ... that's why it has all the white markings. I love the idea of that transformation.

Good to be back.
Jeanna

Hey big guy,
While you're SuperGeorge (and long may it continue) you have the perfect opportunity to create more wall space and therefore room for more of those great prints (yup, they're my taste too): Just get out there this Spring/Summer and build an extension on your home?

There's no doubt about it you all look fantastic! Laura's smile just pips you at the post though George, sorry

If you've not met Timo and Pete before you're in for a treat, you may need to put that mesh over your ribcage for the duration. It was pretty darn special meeting them in England/Toronto respectively.

Jeanna,

Your legend of the origin of the Killer whale is one of the nicest of the many I have heard over the years. We have been interested in finding some of these legends as these old stories from each of the native west coast tribes has much influence over their depiction of the killer whale in their art.

Some of these old legends border on being too X-rated for appearing on KickAS but nevertheless, are fascinating.

George
