Dr Revelle is one of the lead researchers in AS. He was recruited by the SAA to try and specialize in AS research and focus on the genetics of the disease and improving treatment. Much of the member dues go to this cause.

A few of his patients, well two anyway, are saying he is not sure AS is an autoimmune disease but rater auto-inflammatory. In fact we may be auto deficient. This may tie into Ebringers Cell Death stuff partially but not a perfect fit for the cause of it if I am reading it right. Not enough info to really understand what he is saying and he says his research will be published "soon" I am not sure I understand the difference but I look forward to reading that.

And this is from Medscape

Summary: The study of autoinflammatory disease has progressed from genetics to definition of the functional defects in these patients. Although a direct association between defective innate immune responses to bacterial components and these diseases has not been formally established, much ongoing research is aimed towards confirmation of that hypothesis.

another blurb
Mutations in genes encoding the tumour necrosis factor (TNF) receptor and pyrin superfamilies of molecules may lead to persistence of leukocytes that would ordinarily undergo apoptosis,

No families take so little medicine as those of doctors, except those of apothecaries.
