That's frustration up there not panic...so we're in the restaurant and all of a sudden, everyone in there is looking at the television and then I noticed that all of the waitstaff had stopped dead in their tracks and were standing there with that strange look that was everyone else's face and I thought, "Why is everyone staring at the TV?", in a split second, I figured out why....there bigger than lif, scrolling across the bottom of the television in BIG, BOLD, RED letters are the words MANDATORY EVACUATION! Just like that! I cannot put into vocal sequence how much I hate those words! The storm took a northerly path which is what they had originally forecast it to do, but they changed the forecast and they were adament that this storm was going to come ashore near the Texas/Mexico border. Now they're saying that about 60,000 people may have to ride out this storm because it's too late to evacuate them. They've really screwed up this time, I'm just glad that I didn't unpack when I got home from last week's evacuation.

Oh man Michelle, this hurricane season has just been a bear. Be safe, and our prayers are with you.

We're not leaving until in the morning...they call people out in stages for evacuations now and our slot is 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. I'm so glad that I put a hold on my Doctor Fish.....can you imagine me trying to evacuate with a small herd of German Shepherds and 3,000 Garra Rufa fish?!

Thanks Brad, we've got to get my Mother out tonight because she's on oxygen with her latest Lupus flare, so she'll go out tonight with one of my sisters. We're at the house in Creole since Hurricane Gustav, that's where we came back to because of power outages in the city. When you look at the map, we're right below Lake Charles at the coast next to Cameron at the Texas/Louisiana border, 90 miles East of Galveston but this storm is 410 miles wide so we're still in the path.

Wow Sue, I've never heard that one before, that's good belly-ribbin' music! Okay, on a more serious note, on the map showing in the background when the music starts playing, I'm sitting under the ber in Hackberry.

Lucinda Williams is one of my favorites.

Last time you mentioned Lake Charles, i thought of the song, but i was trying to refrain from posting too many youtubes, but mig got me on a roll tonight in another thread, so i figured i'd get it all out of my system in one evening

This storm is really pushing some water up in the rivers and bayous over here, they posted a flood warning about 15 minutes ago so I took the dogs out to the back of the property so I could take a look at the bayou and the boat docks are already covered in water. I would go to the city but there's still power outages from Gustav and even if the lights were on, the storm could shift to the East before making landfall and I still don't trust the levees.

Oh Michelle I really feel for you and all of those that have to leave. I am outside of the Houston area. I am too far away from the coast to be affected, the most we would get is some rain.
I had a Ministry call to pray for me today. I am sending prayers your way.
Do be careful.
God bless
Doreen
