Hi Rick
I just want to say that I agree with Mig. All the advice about Iritis and As tells you to go to the Emergency centre straight away and not leave it. Don't want to scare you here, but you can end up losing your sight if the condition is left, and sight is so precious to us.

hi all, thanks for your responses :-)

>> I do not get sausage like fingers or toes as is common with psoratic

oh thats interesting ! I had those sausage digits just around the time I had my first attack of iritis (eye inflammation), I had only had AS for a little while at that time. I did not know they were related to psoriatic arthritis !

I am not sure whether I have psoriasis though. My skin problem clears up when I put diprosone on it, hence nothing much to show the doc (diprosone is a bit like prednisone). I was told psoriasis doesn't clear up so easily with diprosone cream (if at all).. so my skin problem is probably not psoriasis. I did have it diagnosed many years ago, so I really should go and retreive the old records..

>> Just wanted to say that 2 weeks is too long. ... Mine said "how fast can you drive here"

yes I agree, 2 weeks is too long. If the iritis is bad, the damage can be done in just a day or two. My own doctor told me to go to the ER at a nearby hospital ! Why? because if the eye is damaged by the inflammation .. it is permanent !

My own iritis used to clear right up when I took a supplement called Rutin. But I don't know if anyone else has had iritis relief from Rutin. Also, I am worried about Rutin possibly having an immune suppressing effect (so watch out for chest infections). If you do try it, make sure you start on a small dose eg 100mg.

I haven't had an iritis attack in ages since I started the low starch diet.

>> I did have psoriatic skin lesions for many years until the NSD and antibiotics.

yes, my skin problems cleared up whilst on a fast I did a while back (a no food fast that is). The last two week I have been eating almost entirely fruit (starchy bananas included btw), I feel great and have not had to put any diprosone on my skin for about a week. Normaly I have to use the ointment roughly every two days. Not conclusive yet, but the fruit fast does seem to be clearing the skin problem AND keeping the AS inflammation down at the same time.

I had a splurge on wheat this saturday, was in a load of pain on sunday (hip and back, no skin problems), and am feeling fine again today (monday)
