Poor little darling. My heart and prayers go out to her and her parents in hopes that she is found safe and very, very soon. Bless her heart. I can't even begin to fathom the thought of anything like this happening to my girls.

The general forum is the best place to post something like this. Most new users go to this forum first, and I believe there are more posts in this forum than the others, which would mean that chances of more people seeing this would be higher.
And the more people seeing this, the higher the chances are that this girl may be found. I think that the most appropriate thing to do here, is be thankful that someone had a big enough heart TO post this and to chose more carefully the battles we want to initiate.

as with most everything, people have differing views on issues. i can understand nina's concern about the relevance of this post to a.s.

every time i turn on cnn, i've heard about this terribly tragic case. i am sure, with the f.b.i. agents now down in aruba, that this young woman will be located. i don't see the need for this to be posted here. but, to each his own.

As tragic as every disappearance is, KA is an international group for AS’ers rather than an American bulletin board about missing persons. Should all KA'ers start posting about missing persons from their respective countries? Would anyone be interested in reading about missing persons in Sweden?

The missing girl has no association whatsoever to KA or its members, so I fail to see why it should be posted on KA, let alone the main board. Besides, since the story is being broadcasted on CNN as well as in other major newsmedia, posting it to KA seems quite redundant.

Okay, I try to stay out of these issues, but as a mother, (and a KAer sick of seeing this stuff) I am going to speak out.

If this was my child, I would want everything possible done to locate my child.

I dont read the paper, nor do I watch the news. I would not of known about this if it was not posted here.

There have been other post about children that have been hit by cars, inflicted with some sort of disease or illness or anything else. Prayers (yes prayers) and thoughts were asked to be directed to these children.

I think that I would be quite offended if something happened to Eric, that was not AS related and posted here for someone to complain about it.

For those of you who do not know, I do not have AS. My son Eric does.

As a matter of fact, when Eric was in the hospital a couple of years ago with Chrons related complications, it was here that I came first.

Eric received balloons, cards, and phone calls from all over the world.

It was not AS related, so I guess I should not of posted? Hogwash!! I would do it again in a heartbeat. The caring and compassion received from people did Eric a world of good.

I see post in the main forum that are not AS related....big deal, so what.

I have a hard time believing that people can complain about something like posting about a missing child. I would hope that no one in your family ever has anything bad happen to them.

The lack of compassion that is on this board lately is sickening. It seems like one person or another is looking for something to start bickering about, and it is disgusting.

I remember a KA where we would all come to HELP each other. Not try to start fights.

I understand that we are growing by leaps and bounds, and the need for different forums for different things. When the new off topic forum was first introduced, there were many that complained about that also. Now they are saying to use it.

Come on folks, we are supposed to be a support site. It seems that every time I sign on here, I see someone else complaining about something.

I have seen so many of the "older" members leave for this very reason. A lot of others, read but do not post. A lot of knowledge and experiences are being lost due to childish bickering.

Come on folks. If someone post something that you do not agree with, do the adult thing and close the topic. You can pick and chose what you read, just as you can pick and chose what you write. Try and think about others feelings before your fingers start shooting off complaints.

Lets try to get back to what we are supposed to be. A support site to help each other, not always be complaining about what someone else is doing before we lose a lot more members that can really help the newbies that come along.

I am not going to apologize if I offended anyone, because it has needed to be said. A lot more is needed to be said also, but I will end it here.

Admin, you are doing a good job here. I dont know if I would still be doing it with all the ungrateful people here.

I will take my warning if needed, and if anyone wants to reply about what I said, please do it in PMs where it belongs, and I will get back to each and every one of you.

Please keep it out of this thread. Lets get back to biting our tounge or sending PMs when we dont like something instead of starting things on the forum. Lets get back ot being a support site!

Lori

Ninbot,

I am not trying to cause trouble.

Yes this is a site for AS, and at times people post things on here not related to AS which I have NO problem with.

AS is not just dealing with the disease it is all the things that go with it.

My point was and I would have hoped it was how you felt that if YOU had children, and 1 was missing and YOU were going thru that terror, if someone told you please put that in the appropriate catagory I would be very hurt and pissed.

As far as hearing it, I live in Oklahoma and so far if Moonbees hadn't posted it I would NOT know anything about it. I don't watch the news often but I am here every day.

Moonbees also provided a website, to which I sent good wishes to their family which I also would have not been able to do.

My response would be next time if you see something you don't like being here either ignore it or don't read it. And maybe think about it before you open a can of worms.

Sorry, Sassy love ya!

I personally, just don't see a problem with folks expressing opposing viewpoints when it relates to the mission and purpose of KA, as long as they do so with a reasonable measure of respect and civility towards one another.

A constructive discussion is fine as long as it doesn't diminish to a point where the subject under discussion becomes lost. Valid points have been made on both sides of this and perhaps that's enough.

Thanks to all for expressing such an interest and passion about our KickAS world.
