Had a thought this evening...wanted to share the idea with all you fellow kickASer's.
Seems that as time goes on though we are all in different parts of the world, some of us are in the same areas...and good rheumys are not always easy to find...and when you get a bummer of one its a real waste of time and VERY discouraging...but when you get a good one its a joy and relief!
so i was thinking....
could we have a forum or even a titled section on rheumys where someone could say who they are where they are located and thier rheumy and how highly they would recomend them (or maybe this already exsists and I havent found it yet..if so where is it???)
I know we all have our own opinions and experiences with every dr. but seems that we trust our kickAS family a little more that the average joe/jane referral...I know i do!
Anyways...its just an idea I thought i would throw out there...cause i know there are a lot of people who read and read and read, and dont post...or dont feel comfortable asking questions and if it could give direction to even one person, even one wouldnt it be worth it????

Great idea I think. I don't know how hard it is for our administrators to set up another forum. I don't know much about such. I do know that I have posted in various forums asking about drs. around us; not only rheumies.

Got your thinking cap on today! Must be something to home schooling! Makes Mommy think too.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Jaye - the Spondyitis Association of America have just such a section in their Forum - For listing doctors and also rheumys. So, good idea. Make it international... List by Ste, by Country etc.

Way to go Jaye---just in posting this post you have brought up the subject of Rheumy's and if anyone searches the forums about Rheumyies your post will come up!!!

So...without further ado, I will now add my two cents!!

My rheumy in Kamloops, BC, Blumehauer, nice enough person, but hasn't been very open minded in the actual treatments for AS, as I had tried to tell her about the NSD and about how effective it has been for me. Dr. Blumehauer interrupted me in mid sentence to tell me: there hasn't been any medical studies about diet and arthritis; it doesn't work! Well of course that floored me! I should have thought to say to her that if there weren't any studies then how does she know diet doesn't work!! And there has been studies, Dr. Ebringer in London for one.

Anyways, that is my two cents, and I hope other's will add their own two cents, and let us know about their rheumy and where their rheumy practises.

Also, if there are good rheumies, please post that as well!!

It would probably work on a recommend or not basis, as long as any really negative stuff was exchanged by PM to keep the chance of a libel suit from a Dr. to a minimum. J.R.

You're right JR, the really negative stuff should definitely NOT be posted on the site.

I like the recommend or not recommend idea, as well.

old timer and sweet canada blessing (squeaky)
I would have to agree as well, however if there was a rating scale of say one to 10 of recommend or not recommend...do you think that would be fair???
for instance...he was terrible wouldnt have to be said, it would be dr nightmare (he he) score 1
or dr gottothebottomofit score 10...
what do you two think of that? is it still too edgy
or maybe a simple recomend or not recomend and then the person could pm for further info?
well tell me what you think.
