I haven't been spending too much time here lately because life has just gotten in the way, but my family really needs all of your prayers and good thoughts right now. Tonight I got some sad and depressing news about my ex-father-in-law.

I will give you more background into the story since it may seem wierd to some of you that I am still so connected to my ex's family. When my daughter Brittany was born, I was 20 years old and decided to move to the city where her father was living. We were still together at this point. I was so young to have a new baby that required alot of extra work, she wasn't very healthy as an infant, and Jason and I moved into his dad's and Ali's basement suite. They became sort of like surrogate parents to me since mine lived so far away. Well, once Jason and I broke up that bond has always stayed the same with Ken and Ali.

We found out in May that Ken had Leukemia. He was such a healthy person so it was such a shock to everyone. Vegetarian, ran marathons you know the type. We were all so happy when his leukemia went into remission in October. Unfortunately it was very short lived and the week before Christmas they found out it was back with a vengance. He still had hope though. The head Oncolgy Dr. suggested another round of Chemo and then a bone marrow transplant once he was in remission. They did the research and found that he had several possible matches so the hope was restored. Here is where things get a little stupid. Apparently, the people in charge of the bone marrow have a seperate time line than the Dr.s. Even if they have a suitable match it can still take 3-6 months for the transplant to happen. Today we found out that Ken didn't get into remission with this last round of Chemo and that his body is producing leukemic cells faster than it is producing healthy cells. They have used the best Chemo drugs they have and he hasn't been able to stay in remission. So basically, Ken has exhausted all of his treatment options. He asked the Dr. today how much time he's got left if he doesn't try any of the lower success rate chemo drugs and the Dr. said weeks not months.

Needless to say, Brittany, my daughter, is absolutely devastated. I can't imagine what it would be like if this were my dad when it hurts so much for me right now.

So what I am needing from all of my KickAS family are your prayers, white light and good thoughts. I need these for my family, Ken and Ali and for Brittany's dad Jason. This is going to be a very difficult few weeks

Thank you all so much for being there when I need you most. You are all in my thoughts and prayers more than you know.

Jill

Jill, I remember the first time you posted about Ken and was so hoping that things would turn out otherwise. By all means I'm sending tons of white light and love his way that he will have the best outcome possible.

Please give Brittany an extra special hug and let her know there are people all over the world pulling for her granddad.

Many hugs,

Kat

Jill,
So sorry to hear the news. My best wishes and tons of hugs are coming your way. I know your pain and I greatly feel for you. I just wanted to let you know I was given the same news about my mother who had inoperable lung cancer. They gave her about 6 weeks they said. You know what...that was almost 9 years ago and she is still alive. Don't give up...miracles really do happen.

My thoughts are with you and your family
