I'm actually not that far away from the mines - drove past them in the late Fall, but they were already closed for the season.
Seriously considering trying them out this summer though. If I do, I'll post. Maybe we can have a KickAS get-together underground.

Forgive my forgetfulness/lazyness for not reading through all these posts carefully enough, but are you completely pain free after the Radon treatments?how many times and how much does it cost all together to go through this? Do you still alter your diet even tho you do the Radon thing?do you go twice a year? Have you noticed any kinds of negative effects from this? And lastly....is it possible to bring a drill with to drill for gold since the gold prices are so high? :-)

For me (which is the norm): the 6th week after the treatment I feel much better. By the third month after-pain free/ inflammation free... blood test confirm it's not in my head. This lasted for 10 months last year. I only do it once a year. Only negative effect is a significant flare around 2nd week of the treatment which lasts for a while--again, normal-I was warned. The 3 week treatment for me including Superior Plus room and full board at the Radium Palace Spa for both my wife and me was a total of US$3000--can be done much cheaper as there are 4 other facilities in Jachymov which do the same (but in much more basic digs). To my knowledge-there's no gold in dem dar hills. I don't alter my diet-I continue to eat a diet void of processed foods and sugar, while eating a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. The Radon treatment, in my opinion, is far more effective and far less dangerous than the NSD.

lemme get this number correct... only three thousand US dollars for a 3 week therapy??

Yes. Even with the weak US Dollar. I decided to give this treatment a try when my insurance denied to pay for Remicade. What's even better is that my wife and I paid up for a better room. If you ever read Aurther Frommer's Budget Travel Magazine-there is always an article on the Eastern European Spas as being one of the best travel deals on the planet. The secret is out.

Hey Luigi.
AS I read the radon research it seems to boost the immune system when given at the low levels that the mines are using. Perhaps the initial flare is due to that. Did they give any reasoning at the mine?
I know if LDN washes out over the next three months for me I am headed to the Montana Mine.

No, they didn't give me any reason why I'd flare, only that it was normal to do so.
I'm curious, why not give the mines a try even if the LDN works?

Found this on a German website-research on Radon and it's effectiveness on patients suffering with AS have been sudied since the 1950's there:
After being inhaled through the lungs and absorbed by the skin, radon immediately begins to activate cell mechanisms right down to the messenger regeneration cells (cytoplasm). The improved circulation (as a result of the heat therapy) means that the radon is quickly distributed around the body via the bloodstream. It is particularly effective in well-circulated and fat-rich tissues, such as the hormone producing glands. The alpha-particles released by radon as it breaks down stimulate cellular metabolism and regeneration. In particular, cytokines, which inhibit inflammation and encourage healing, and the body's regenerative TGF-Beta cytokines, are activated.
