I am sorry to hear that you are such a sweet 19 and having these terrible problems.

If you can not take your Enbrel, does your Dr. have you on some other meds? If yes then take them, if not then try and rest, eat healthy get a little excersize as you can.

Christine my daughter is 18 and was just diagnosed with AS I will try to get her on this site. I think she has had signs of this for many years we just didn't know.

Hey Christine;

I've found the best help for me, in "dealing" with my AS, is to do research and post here. When I feel sad, I post here, and when I feel mad, I do research. And I also post. And I post and do research when I'm happy and optimistic, too . . . lol I just do lots of research, and post whenever I can, or when I feel the need to cry or yell or beat something. I'm 13 years into this ugly mess (came down with it at age 10, was diagnosed after 11 years and 30 doctors) so I probably have a better outlook than most, having grown up with it. But it can still really get me down (see today's post for example lol).

Something you might want to look up is Low Dose Naltrexone, which is what I'm taking right now. I LOVE it, it's helped me SO much. www.lowdosenaltrexone.org is the best website I've found.

I'm super glad you've found us, this place is honestly the best place in the world! Or, well . . . close, anyway. If only I could take KickAS with me into a hot tub on a summer night, . . . *daydream* lol

Hi Christine,

Welcome to our AS family! You have definately come to the right place for information and support. I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed at such a young age. I too was young (mine started the day after my 25th b-day, and now I'm 30), and went with years of being undiagnosed. I can imagine that this diagnosis must be overwhelming right now, however, the positive thing is that you are taking disease modifying drugs right now, which will help you greatly in the long run.

I wish I could give you great advice, however, AlohaBen has pretty much summed up perfectly everything and anything that I could have said to you.

Stay positive...stay informed...and most importantly (I think) is to stay with us, as I think that we are the most educated people on the face of the planet with regards to this disease. There are so many wonderful and great and knowledgable people here. I feel that I was extremely lucky to have found this place. I hope that you feel the same way.

And remember, you can ask us anything that you want...no matter how big or small you think that the question might be. We will try our best to help you the best way that we can.
