Got approval today for the Enbrel study.!! Next appointment to get the meds is Feb 28.
History....Got notice the end of Jan about an Enbrel study.
Feb 7...first appointment for screening
Feb 11 ...x-rays of chest and hips
Feb 26 Approval
Feb 28 ... Pickup meds, x-ray of spine, joint count, exam

Way to go, Betty! Is this the kind of study where half get a placebo or does everyone get the "real thing"? Cheryl  Dogs know the meaning of faithfulness

Good for you Betty!!! I really hope Enbrel works as well for you as it does for me. I've been on it since september. Whatever you will be taking: Enbrel or placebo, I just hope you feel better!!! Take care and let us know, mars

they say that there is a 50 / 50 chance for the real thing. I hope that I do not go through 6 months of shots for nothing. At the end, they say everyone gets the real thing. I'm sure for how long.

So you are doing the study in Canada, Cindy in PA, I'm in Dallas....any others out there doing the study. I also know of 2 other KICKAS'ers in the Dallas area that have gone through the screening.

Somehow i feel that I will not be getting the "real" thing. My AS is not bad and I would make a good control. Hope they feel differently.

BTW- Paul, how long did it take them to do the screening. I am a patient person...but the screening just about drove me nuts. I felt totally neglected as I set in the exam room for hours.

Betty, The drug study should, and probably does, do random assignment. Which means that everyone in the study has an equal chance of being in either condition (experimental condition = Enbrel, control condition = placebo). This ensures the validity of the study. I hope this makes some sense, you might want to do some research on experimental procedures in general for more information on how these studies are done. ******** Kristin TODAY IS NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL!!
