Hi Jen and welcome to KA. smile

It is not at all uncommon for someone to have more than one autoimmune disease. And you're right, there should be a limit! But you're in good company here, with some of the best folk anywhere on the planet!

Look into recent research on Vitamin D with regard to MS. Some people are also finding Vitamin D supplementation (or plenty of sun) to be beneficial for AS.

And ask questions. Between us, I doubt there's anything about AS that someone here hasn't experienced.

Hugs,

Kat

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have not started any meds besides Indocin & steriods for the AS yet. I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago. I was suppose to go back to Rhuemy today but the office called and rescheduled for April 5th. I had been having problems for awhile but the docs kept saying it was my MS (I knew it was not, the pain was different than what I usually experience with my MS). I had a bone scan and multiple MRI's in Feb and it showed that my saccrum was inflamed and had some fusion, the bone scan showed arthritis in both feet, ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, jaw, and saccrum. Needless to say I am a mess. I am in alot of pain and working and caring for my 1 year has been rough!!!! I am hoping that once I start some treatment I will see a big improvement but I know I may have my expectations a little high.

Hi Jen, have you looked into the low/no starch diet? There's a forum for it, which you'll find if you click on the main Forum List link. While lowering or eliminating starch doesn't work for everyone, it has helped enough people that it might be worth looking into.

Just a thought, as I have a feeling the biologic meds might not be recommended for you since you also have MS.

Hugs,

Kat
