feel pretty awful. Still have pain in the thoracic back and sternum. Still feel weak.

Am still very motivated to keep going though because my digestion seems so much better.

Mabe I'm still taking in too much inadvertent starch. I had carrot/apple juice by juicing them. It turned a darker colour when i put iodine on it. Plus I'm eating these chocolate macaroons that have cocoa powder on them. Is cocoa powder really a starch. I have seen conflicting reports. When I put iodine on it I couldnt tell if the blend of iodine and chocolate produced a different colour or if it was positive for starch.

It might take weeks. I might have to tighten things up but I'm already so limited with the no dairy no starch approach.

Hello Finnari

Nice to meet you!

Do you mind me asking is there a particular reason that you are going No Starch and No Dairy all at once?

If there is, fine of course. But if not... well it's much easier to see what is having an effect on you or not if you are just doing No Starch to begin with - you may find you don't need to go No Dairy as well (I never have). But it's obviously different for everyone.

Just a thought.

Let me know about the dairy thing and then I'll make so more comments for you.

Also - juiced carrots - apples and cocoa can all be potentially problematic - sorry.

Take care rainbow

You probably just need to give it more time. Eight days isn't enough for me to see any gains either. Stick with it, don't give up. Keep testing everything and when in doubt, throw it out. Eat lots of the good things you can have to keep your energy up, drink plenty of water. Going no dairy is really hard for me too, but I've done it before.

Hiya, 8 days is not long enough to expect significant results....more like 8 weeks and you should start to see some progress. For most people it's a gradual improvement with some setbacks along the way that takes place over a period of months.

So you should be taking a more long term approach..thinking more how you will feel in 6 months time than next week. Sucks, I know but that's the reality for most people.

To test dark things like cocoa powder you can mix with milk and then add the iodine. I'm not really sure if cocoa powder is starchy. I use cooking chocolate in my baking as it only has a small amount of actual cocoa in it compare to using cocoa powder.

Carrots are not really safe for most people...they are a root vegetable after all. I have tried juicing them before and the juice always has tested positive for me. Apples can be dodgy a lot of the time also.

yea 8 days is just a start. I am a diciplined type person and welcome something that could impact my help.

for the gal that asked about no dairy.I have always found ice cream to be a great offender of my digestive process and many have commented it's necessary to add it as the Kleibsiella feeds on the lactose.

thanks though for the encouragement and advice from you all.

I'm the dairy gal,

I can see that you have made your mind up and are happy with what you are doing - good for you, I certainly do not want to interfer with that.

I will just add that ice cream often contains starch.

Best of luck with the diet - I so hope it works well for you.

The juice can definitely be problematic. It's best to steer clear, unfortunately. I found cocoa powder to test positive for starch every time I tested it. I also tried to wish the positive results away, consumed it, and flared. Perhaps it was the brand I used, but proceed with caution.

You, and everyone else, needs to remember that this stuff (AS, digestive problems, etc.) didn't happen overnight. It isn't going to be fixed overnight (or in eight days) either.

Stick with it. Good luck.

Kind Regards,
Jay

been a couple of weeks now. I'm on vacation in maui so I 'm getting a lot of rest. My energy level is back to normal. I'm eating a lot of ceaser salads with chicken and choclate. Pain has been reduced somewhat but still in the same place. Gut is as good as ever. Drank some whiskey last night. Not sure if that was a smart move. Feeling it this morning.

ever tried giving up chocolate for a couple of days? it contains maltose - a sugar with a verry complex molecule, verry hard to digest. so it can be a possible food for the Kb.

I've heard people say chocolate can be a problem. But if my digestion is any indication it's not. Despite eating it everyday I dont have that bloating feeling I always had eating starches.
