If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi everyone!
I've been doing great on the NSD...then guess what? I made flan and ATE it...and I had salad and dressing and Apricot sauce chicken from Olive Garden. And I had been eating Lactose free ice cream.
So my colitis flared up. Then eye pain followed...I have had iritis officially a week now. I've been seeing my ophtalmologist, of course. Anyone had a similar experience? Anything helps the iritis go away quicker?
I will look on the bright side and think I still have ONE good eye! The glass if half full!

Hi, IamGrateful:
We are not allowed to eat caramel--even caramelized milk coatings could mess us up but yeah salad dressings are adulterated with all kinds of nasty stuff, too.
Main answer to Your question is YES, there are things to make iritis go away quicker, but they are not generally for polite company. If You want to email me for my iritis-be-gone formulae, You are welcome.
Many times I have been on the verge of iritis so I never went too far off the NSD course in early days. Now I can "experiment" almost too freely and not get slapped back down--the only negative about that is that I'm not such a good evaluator anymore...
Good luck with it, John

Oh, no! Are you on prednisone eye drops? The dilating ones, too?
Meantime, I feel that it does help to be very careful with what I eat during a flare. I eat very simply. I wonder if the lactose free ice cream has any thickeners that might feed gut bacteria such as klebsiella.
I hope your gut and eye feel completely well soon. If you are in SF, CA you can go to the uveitis clinic at UCSF. Dr Ira Wong is fabulous.
Be well, Jan

Thanks for your help, everyone. yeah, the salad dressing had DEXTROSE in it, last time i had that it gave me bad IBS symptoms and colitis. I learned my lesson this time! My eye hurts a lot this time and I'm very sensitive to light. which is too bad because I can't enjoy the beautiful sunshine we are having! Dragonslayer, I cant send you a private message. Can you send your formula to me in a private message? I live about 45 minutes from SF, it may be out of the way for me ..? Otherwise i would have loved to go to that clinic.

Hi, Regarding the clinic in S.F., many people travel from very far away if they need a true iritis specialist, but hopefully you are healing just fine. Same with MERSI in Cambridge, MA; people would travel from way out of state or from other countries.

Hi Dragonslayer,
Can you send me that formula for iritis-be-gone? Right now I'm taking the predforte drops and the dilating drop. I just miss being outside in the sun , but it hurts too much! I wear glasses so I just can't wear sunglasses...
If my iritis gets more serious, I could try that clinic in SF. According to my oph. my iritis is "mild".

Regarding eye glasses and sunshine and OUCH...check out the type of sunglasses that fit over your regular prescription glasses. One type is called cocoons and another is called fit overs. Both are online, let me know if you have problems finding them if you decide to look into that option. Another tip I have is don't get transition lenses. That's when you get lenses in your regular glasses that change to sunglasses when you are in sunlight. They just don't block enough light, and are not effective in a car, so I don't think they are a good choice. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Another tip I have is don't get transition lenses. i couldnt agree more - they suck. dark tinted presciption lenses with the anti glare stuff on them are perfect.
