If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Perhaps some of the few AS people with antibodies to lactoferrin would still benefit from taking it short-term with probiotics like my doctor suggested -- it could disrupt the population of bad bacteria and allow the beneficial ones to get a foothold. Of course if inflammation starts to rise noticeably, drop it and try something else. Lactoferrin action seems different from typical antibiotics in that it is more effective at breaking up the biofilms that protect harmful microbes and also gives beneficial bacteria an edge over the harmful ones, rather than wiping them all out. Here is a study that used lactoferrin and probiotics to complement conventional antibiotic treatment and make it more effective against the stubborn H. finnari: what did you take? and did you take probiotics with it? follow special diet? it seems there is more than one type of lactoferrin that are effective against diff bacteria. at least thats how i interpreted it.

I took no probiotics. I cant remember the company's name but it was from New Zealand and claimed there cows were more pure then American cows. It had a bit of an anabolic effect because it made my hair and skin so nice and shiny. Cant really say one way or another whether it helped, probably not because pre enbrel i was in a lot of pain all the time.

i think i misunderstood the first time like chris did. after reading again it says the lactoferrin is made up of 2 main whatchamacallits. those 2 things attacked different bacteria. please correct me if im wrong.
SJLC: you start that yet?

Not yet -- will pick it up when I get appointment with doc. Probably not until next month, got big deadlines coming up at work!!! I will definitely let you know how it goes. I'm also considering LDN like you, but probably after I've evaluated whether the Lactoferrin helps. At this point my pain is already way down, and I'm just trying to tune things up so I can keep a bit of movement in my neck (already had lots of fusing by the time I got correct diagnosis).

SJLC: cant wait to see how it goes! as you know from my other post i have appt on mon. and i wanna start with lactoferrin. if i indeed have candida [im going to have test hopefully] then it could clear that a little before LDN. LDN is not as effective if candida is present. it can actully cause something like a candida eruption where as you could end up with a rash. just things ive read anyway. to be equipt w/ info i was going to print out some of these links you posted. 1 candida/ E coli link 2 comment on Kleb p. any other ideas? better ideas?
also.. does this lactoferrin need a Rx? does it come in pills? should it be started slow to avoid herxing [ i really would like to avoid this] ?

Here's even some probiotics I found that include it. http://www.theralac.com/lactoferrin.aspxI'm debating whether I want to try these or the plain lactoferrin supplement with my yogurt; think I'll wait to see what my doc says.
