Hi Everyone,

Have been putting up with AS for 30 years and taken every known anti-inflammatory known to mankind, including witches and wizards hoping to rid me of my curse naturally.

I recently passed all the tests (unfortunately I guess) to now be allowed to access HUMIRA. I had my first needle 10 days ago and cannot believe the difference in my body. I can now move my neck freely and when I sneeze I don't grab my sides as though I have been punched by Muhummid Ali. I guess there is pros & cons but my quality of life has just gone through the roof.

Has anyone out there in AS land been on HUMARID for some time and can you give me an insight as to how you are going and your positive or negative thoughts.

Cheers
Alan

the quality of life has been amazing for me. Its been wonderful the down side is infections. my knee is twice the size it should be from a tick bite. the puncture wound got infected so no more humira until it is completly healed. make sure you get the flu shot before the flu season hits.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick reply, it is now winter in Australia and I will certainly arrange a flu shot going on your experience.

cheers

AWESOME!!!! I know the feeling related to the miracle of humira. I started taking it this year...on my 6th shot I think. I think I'm starting to think like Howie Mandel. We went to the Santa Cruz boardwalk this weekend and it was full of people. My first thoughts were..."I should have brought my hand disinfectant"..."I wonder if anyone here is sick"... I do worry about the drug but it feels so good to be better.

Hi Donette

Thanks for your message. Why are you not in a position to also use HUMARID if your AS is so bad? Just seems that you are suffering and nothing has helped you.

cheers
Alan

Hi Lath

Thanks for your thoughts. I recently had a meeting with my heart specialist re two stents I had put in over the past 18 months. I told him I was going on HUMARID and he looked a bit confused as to why. I then said to him if he gave me the choice of getting rid of the heart disease or the AS I would prefer to get rid of the AS and manage the heart disease. I sometimes wonder if the doctors even understand the continual pain you are in. Over here in Australia the HUMARID is subsidised by the government and would normally cost $18,000 (Aus) for a years supply. I inject myself fortnightly and each needle works out around $850 each. I pay for a prescription of 2 needles which costs me $35. Who knows what the future holds in 5 or 10 years hopefully taking HUMARID. I guess it comes down to basic physics - "cause & effect" and for every action there is a reaction. I simply know that my quality of life at the moment is well worth the risk of what may happen down the line.

Cheers
Alan
