A. flare up of iritis/uveitis
B. Long trek to see specialist doctor and get back home
C. Schedule @ work topsy turvy due to this doctor appt and some extra meetings
D. I FORGOT an appt with a client at work so I no-showed, calling an hour lately very apologetically. This is so NOT me!
E. My very best friend has a recurrence of cancer and started radiation treatment this week.
F. My supervisor at work keeps trying to get me to take on more work when I've been saying that I feel that I'm doing all I can do.

Whew! Thanks for letting me vent.

The worst of it all is of course my concerns for my friend.

I'm going to try and take it a breath at a time and remind myself that I'm a work in progress, I make mistakes, (like forgetting that appt, which I feel so horrible about) and to not let stress make me feel bad, because I really do think stress makes spondy stuff worse!

Hope you all have a nice weekend and thanks SO much for listening!

Sorry about the stressful and sad news. Gotta keep the work in progress attitude going because like you said AS loves stress.

so sorry to hear about your friend. heart

as for juggling work and a chronic illness, i know that one can be a real challenge. things i do that you might find helpful (of course you might be doing them already): 1. i write everything, and i mean everything down, otherwise with so much to juggle, i'd be constantly forgetting things. in this way i rarely forget anything. 2. i try to be as proactive as possible, try to get extra stuff done during my good periods so i can do only what is absolutely essential during flares. like last week my back was so bad, all i could do was come in, teach, and go home. but this week, back to doing the extra stuff too. it definitely can be a challenge! 3. i've gotten much better at knowing my limits and not feeling any remorse at calmly telling people i'm sorry, but NO. hugss

Oooch! This is a scary and stressful time indeed. It sounds like one breath at a time is the best way to deal with everything. My sis had cancer in October, and I am now officially amazed by modern medicine. Here's a hug to help you through the day. Wish I could give you a real one! hugss

Hey Jan, you are right about stress increasing AS symptoms. I'm glad you come here to get it out and talk about it and I must say you have the right attitude going for you. Take a deep breath and prioritize.

I feel for ya with the iritis. I've been there multiple times and I really hate/fear it. It will pass.

I've been the source of a few work mistakes a few times in my lifetime. I've concluded that these events have made me sharper and better. I pity the fool that doesn't feel the regret that allows one to benefit from the mistake.

It sounds like your supervisor has a lot of confidence in you.

Jan one of the things we think helps iritis is LDN(low dose naltrexone). Drizzit didn't get it once while on LDN for 2 years, then went off and BAM, another flare. Then he went back on and it got better. Is that an option for you?

I've been on LDN for a little over a year now and have never had iritis (knocking on wood, crossing fingers and toes).

Hugs to you, this is a really stressful time. One thing that helps keep my schedule under control is using a calendar/day planner and then when someone asks me to do something I pull it out, look at it and say "oh gosh, sorry I'm booked." It's kind of like blaming it on the calendar, lol, not ME!

You're an awesome woman to keep up with all that you are.

Soft hugs,
Donette
