Have got some somewhere in one of my many 'unpacked' boxes! (Much use that is...) Used to give it to my horse when she came down with DSLD/ESPA. (There was nothing that could help her, she went down fast, had to be euthasnised.)

Has a good record for injection, used a lot in France - my GP told me last week that orthopaedic surgeons here prefer to use H.Acid as opposed to the cortisone shots.

yes molly thank you. the articles u posted was mostly all i found on this site.
i have taken it and it tastes a little funny. my knees itched about an hour after first dose.. coincidence? i scratched em so hard right before bed my skin is sore. i dont feel any diff but will continue to take and report. i think it made my pee stink frown fingies crossed that it helps at least a little.
the only adverse thing i could find on HA is that some folks can get a rash from it. they didnt imply this was serious though.

ooohhh-eeerrrr - sounds ike you threw the reaction then. IF it continues to bother ike taht - itching to the point of drawing blood, then, me? Hmmmmm. Not soooo happy to hear thatta one.

Wonder if H. would also possibly itch with injection - like injection of as opposed to cortisone shots? Must check that out.

Last med I had scripted mede me itch, mostly on my face, and ended up with a horrible scratched out rash on upper lip and chin. Looked like...can't think, but right nasty. Stopped med, rash went - and no, NOT doing a re-try!

Do hope it helps you sunnypower -

Found this on the oral HA - interestng. And, yes, mentions the rash effect and one person had hot flash and spots on forehead - though they were a tad unsure IF it was the HA as they were taking other supplements etc etc as well as. Anyways:-
http://www.raysahelian.com/hyaluronic-acid.html

There were quite a few hits for the HA, checked out a few of the l inks, the above 'seemed' the best of what I did check out. Mighty interesting. Also mentioned as good for eyes, until that one person entined aving fuzzy optical effect. But, were on 'other' stuff as well as.

Will now look for side effects of injection of HA. One of em would be Synvisc. See what I find.

ok! i read more of the first article... umm i dont know if i wanna take it anymore frown of course im scared of everything anyway. i did read of someone who had itchy legs. knees havent itched since and ive had 3 doses so far. due for 4th one right now. i never drew blood with my itchy episode so u must have read that someone had? yikes.

it is made from either chicken comb OR fermented STREPTOCOCCI !! mine says vegaterian so its not from a chicken. is it just me piecing things together stupidly? listen.. so i read about strep abd one class/group is responsible for rhuematic fever. one of the symptoms for RF is rash and the others i cant remember but anyway, complaints of a rash arent unusual from using oral HA. im not saying its causing RF, just making a relationship between HA sources and possible side effects. some ppl said the used it for months before a rash started. someone got it injected in theyre face and a year later developed hard nodules at the injection sites, like the product didnt go away. does that mean if HA is rushing to my joints that they could harden too? i know i know hypochondriact. what u guys think? im a bit freaked out. thanks molly for enlightening me as always smile

me again,.
i think im not going to take it for a few days and see how i feel. i only took 1 dose today instead of 2. i feel sore and my knees r really warm. i see its not unusual for joints to get heated cuz the HA increases circulation but i just feel like its making me feel worse. could there be a herx type thing? dunno but im afraid to continue.

also looked up some reports on HA levels in AS and OA. both show elevated HA serum levels... so why would taking more actually help? beyond me, im no dr or scientist.

Sunny - don't now, but that HA sure has me somewhat concerned now. Do know that orthopds use it in preference to using cortisone injections - shoulder, elbows, knees etc refers. Orthopods in Fr. prefer to use the Synvisc and Osternil, that's the injectable HA. Will have to see what I can fnd out about those side effects, if any reported.

HA hasn't been used that long in humans, comparitively speaking. Was used for horses before, then it was used in humans. There are several orthopods in the UK who swear by it and others who don't rate its use...not all are of like mind.

See what I can find on the internet. And yes, if in doubt, or having reactions, don't take.
