Hi fellow AS warriors, it's AJ here..

On Thursday 23rd August 2018 I had my 3rd spinal correction osteotomy surgery. My 1st was last July 2017 on my neck (chin on chest deformity), then 16wks later in November it was my 2nd surgery, this time on my thoracic....And 2 days ago I had a lumbar correction.

My lumbar spine was fused & deformed, I didnt have the arch & the angle of the lumbar was 8 degrees, so I had a flat lower back. My surgeon reconstructed the arch and my newly corrected angle is now 45 degrees. I now should have a spine that somewhat actually resembles an s shaped spine.

I'm typing this while in a hospital bed on day 2 post op. I'm in a lot of pain throughout my body. my thighs are extremely tight & tender, I can't bend my legs and I've only been able to stand on the spot..no steps/walking yet. My shoulders & arms are also extremely painful & weak + damage to my right pec (swollen)....my lower back has extreme post op pain + I'm having a continuous flare up & spasm attack in my lumbar muscles.....it's very early days as my body reacts to yet another traumatic event and each hour that goes by gets a little better.

I'll keep ya updated as i heal....

never lose hope, never stop fighting and embrace the journey to reclaim your life...

AJ;)

Those low back spasms - I had the same thing with my surgery. I hope they are being generous with the muscle relaxers. They saved me.

It was way back in 1983 that I had similar surgery. It was all in all one of the best things they ever did for me. Best of luck with it all
