Thankyou everyone for you advice. CHeryl, thanks for letting me know about Amy. THat was very reassuring. I am afraid of taking the prednisone but the Rheumy insists its the best thing for me. I guess I will have to mull this over some more before I finally decide to take the pred or not. Thanks again

Hi Desiree!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am pregnant with my second child right now and due very, very soon... I am 36 weeks. I have had AS for about 8 years. Both of my pregnancies have had little to no AS complications. I was working long hours when I was pregnant with my first son and found that it was harder than this pregnancy due to the fact I didn't have as much time to put my feet up and not push myself. Towards the end of my first pregnancy I went to physical therapy three times a week to help with the SI and lower back pain. They had me to do some therapy in a pool. It helped.... This pregancy I have been doing much better. I wouldn't say I have been in remission, but I definately haven't had any bad flares. I have been wearing down in the last month, but otherwise I have been feeling great. I took no meds during both pregnancies. My rheumy did tell me that it was safe to give me a steroid shot into a sore area if needed... I have never had any luck with those before so I haven't bothered.... I have decided to take NO meds no matter what... I would rather deal with the pain then possibly hurt my baby... I haven't met a medication that could make me pain free anyway! I would be very cautious about taking the prednisone... definately ask your OB/GYN what he or she thinks. I do have to warn you that I felt really bad after I had my first child and my rheumy expects the same with this one. Obviously it was worth all the extra pain to want to have another child!

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions. Good luck and keep us updated!
