If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Has anyone tried hyaluronic acid supplement? Don't know if it really works. There was a radio ad and there are also some websites that talk about it. Thanks.

Don't know about this one except.... that it depends on Magnesium in the diet for our bodies to make it and it is very readily influenced by diet. So i'd go for a good diet with good calcium and magnesium levels in balance rather than buy the pills Ted

I don't understand this one either.. cheers, z ==================================== Apparently found in Xanthan Gums (a polysacharide?) - this is used as a gelling agent in foods, cosmetics, paints. ######################################################################## Hyaluronic acid ######################################################################## Hyaluronic acid (HA) was discovered by Meyer and Palmer in 1934. It is a linear polysaccharide in the glycosamino glycan family. It is composed of repeating disaccharide (sugar) units of N-acetyl-glucosamine and D-glucoronic acid. Unlike other glycosamino glycans such as condroitin or condroitin sulfate it has no covalent bonds to proteins or sulfates, thus it has very low anti-genicity (the body does not mount an immune response against it).

Prevention of Scarring and Aiding Wound Healing
High concentrations of HA, Particularly in fetal skin, have long been noted to be associated with rapid healing with little scarring. It is postulated that HA is the extra cellular matrix (fluid between skin cells) that is the natural transportation system for the events of wound healing (inflammatory cell migration, fibroblast cell migration, cytokine migration and epithelial cell migration) to smoothly occur. http://www.dermatologistskincare.com/HyaluronicAcid.htm######################################################################## Duke Phytochemical DB - Glucuronic Acid ######################################################################## info on Glucuronic Acid: http://sun.ars-grin.gov:8080/npgspub/xsql/duke/listchempl2a.xsql?chem=glucuronic&p_request=GoDuke DB home page is: http://www.ars-grin.gov/duke/ "So long and thanks for all the fish" - Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy

quoted from the book 'Secrets of Echinacea' by Winfred Conkling, pg 62 Barriers: The Walls Of The Fort ... The barrier system also includes an essential secretion known as hyaluronic acid. This mucuslike connective tissue bathes and nourishes each cell; its gelatinous texture helps hold the cells of the body in place. This extracellular fluid makes up about one-fifth of the liquid of the body. It allows the treansfer of nutrients, waste materials, and other chemicals between the tiny blood vessels known as capillaries and the individual cells, and between the lymphatic system and the cells.
The viscosiy, or thickness of the fluid is determined by two main components: hyaluronic acid (a substance that is secreted by the connective tissue) and hyaluronidase (an enzyme that thins the hyaluronic acid to the appropriate consistency). If these two components fall out of balance, the fluid will become too thick or too thin.
Some bacteria and viruses contain hyaluronidase so that they can thin, or "melt," the hyaluronic fluid and work their way through their barrier; echinacea blacks the hyaluronidase, thickening the fluid and making it difficult or impossible for pathogens to enter the body.

quoted from: http://calzyme.com/commerce/catalog/spcategory.jsp?category_id=1065Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid (Hy) is a highly polymerized mucopolysaccharide present in the highest concentrations in mammals in vitreous humor of the eye, human umbilical cords and joint fluids (Myer, K. and M.M. Rapport, Advances in Enzymology, 13, 199, 1952). It is one of the constituents of ground substance. It may be isolated in widely ranging degrees of purity and polymerization (Kaye, M.A.G. and M. Stacey, Biochem. J., 48, 249, 1951). Hyaluronic acid consists of a polymer of N-acetylglucosamine and glucuronic acid probably arranged as alternating units in a flexible chain. The Hy molecule is negatively charged but the degree of charge varies greatly with the ionic environment. This negative charge results in the mutual precipitation of cationic proteins such as albumin at low pH as in the Hyaluronidase assay procedure.(emphasis is mine) "Thy food shall be thy remedy." - Hippocrates, 500 BC

OK, Hyaluronic Acid is composed of N-acetylglucosamine and glucuronic acid... so I looked up sources for these: * N-acetylglucosamine (component of Hyaluronic Acid) found in : Glucosamine sulfate (best source), Shiitake mushrooms (you can find these in any chinese supermarket) Bovine and Shark cartilage
* glucuronic acid (component of Hyaluronic Acid) found in : kombucha tea (likely to be the best source) and perhaps found in some other mushrooms? glucuronic acid is also found in the following, but I don't know what conentrations: Ginseng Soybean Asafetida Juniper berries "Thy food shall be thy remedy." - Hippocrates, 500 BC

ok, here is the metabolic pathway which I found here: http://www.cheque.uq.edu.au/research/bioengineering/research/Metabolic_Engineering/HA.html Looks like glucuronic acid is a by product of glucose metabolism. So go for a jog, or do some weights.. "Thy food shall be thy remedy." - Hippocrates, 500 BC

My experience with Hyaluronic acid has about sold me on the stuff. I rescued an starving, malnourished, abused 27 year old horse. On top of this she had a bad hip which caused a serious limp. Three months into giving her an arthritic nutritional suppliment with hyaluronic acid, she does NOT limp. And she has the thickest winter coat of all the horses. When I got her, she could only 'whisper', two weeks ago, she was able to actuall make vocal sounds. She now behaves like a horse 20 years younger than she really is. She is spirited, opinionated, demanding, appreciative, etc. I have had her for 6 months. I started the suppliment 3 months ago. The changes have taken place in the past 2-3 weeks. I simply cannot believe the change. I don't know whether to credit the HA or not....but without the suppliment she just put on weight, no general physical/mental improvement. I am pretty impressed.
